1. Installation1.1General notes on installationWarningSudden unexpected movements of the connected actua tors and uncontrolled movements of loose tubing cancause injury to human beings and/or damage to property.· Make sure that the higher order controller has not sentcontrol signals to the valve solenoid coils.· Switch off the following on the CP. SC DP beforecarrying out conversion work: the compressed air supply the power supply. Please noteThe CP. SC DP valve terminal contains electrostaticallysensitive components. Do not therefore touch the electrical contacts of thecomponents. Observe the regulations for handling electrostaticallysensitive components. You will then prevent the electronics from being damaged. Please notePlease note the following if this product is intended for usein the USA and Canada: Rules for observing the UL approval can be found in theUL specific brief operating instructions. 1. Installation1.31.3.1Connecting to the field busField bus cablePlease noteIf installation has not been carried out correctly and if highbaud rates are used, data transmission errors may occuras a result of signal reflections and attenuations.Causes of the transmission faults may be: missing or incorrect terminating resistor incorrect screening/shield connection branches transmission over long distances unsuitable cables.Observe the cable specifications. Refer to your controllermanual for information on the type of cable to be used. Please noteIf the valve terminal is fitted into a moving part of amachine, the field bus cable on the moving part must beprovided with strain relief. Please observe also the relevantregulations in EN 60204 part 1.Festo P.BE CPASC CPVSC DP E N en 0610NH1 9

1. Installation1.5.21.5.3Selecting the cable·Calculate the necessary cross sectional area and themaximum permitted cable length.·Avoid long distances between the power unit and thevalve terminal. Long cables reduce the voltage suppliedby the power unit.Selecting the power unit Warning· For the power supply use only PELV circuits as perIEC/DIN EN 60204 1 (Protective Extra Low Voltage,PELV).Take into account also the general requirements forPELV circuits as per IEC/DIN EN 60204 1.· Use only power packswhich guarantee reliable electricalisolation of the operating voltage as per IEC/DINEN 60204 1.By the use of PELV power units, protection against electricshock (protection against direct and indirect contact) is guar anteed in accordance with IEC/DIN EN 60204 1 (electricalequipment of machines, general requirements). The current requirement of a CP system depends on thenumber of CP modules and valve coils. Recommendation:·Use closed loop controlled power units.·When selecting the power unit, check that it providessufficient output. Calculate the total current requirementin accordance with section 1.5.1.Festo P.BE CPASC CPVSC DP E N en 0610NH1 15

1. Installation1.5.4Connect the power supply of the valve terminalPlease noteUse only a socket in accordance with appendix A.2 for thepower supply and connect this only to the connection forthe power supply (see Fig. 1/1).Pin assignment of the power supply connectionAssignmentPin24 V DC electronics and sensors24 V DC valves and outputs0 V electronics and sensors0 V valves and outputsFEPin 1Pin 2Pin 3Pin 4Pin 5Plug on CP. In order to open the plug, loosen the centre knurled nut.2. Open the strain relief on the rear part of the housing. Then pass the cable through.3. Remove 5 mm of insulation from the end of the cable andfit end sleeves on the strands.4. Connect the ends of the conductors.5. Replace the connector part on the housing of the socket.Pull the cable back so that there are no loops inside thehousing.6. Tighten the strain relief.Festo P.BE CPASC CPVSC DP E N en 0610NH1 17

1. InstallationObserve the following when connecting the 24 V load voltage(pin 2):·Observe the tolerance (20.4 . 26.4 V DC).Check the 24 V load voltage of the valves while thesystem is operating.CautionExcessive voltages or short circuits can lead to functionaldamage to the CP. SC DP, whereby actuators can nolonger be controlled.· Protect the load voltage of the valve coils with externalfuses. In order to ascertain the size of the fuses, calculate firstthe maximum current consumption in accordance withsection 1.5.1.Please noteCheck your emergency stop circuit, in order to ascertainthe measures necessary for switching your machine/sys tem into a safe state in the event of an emergency stop. Switching off the load voltage for the valves and outputmodules in the secondary circuit of the power unit. Switching off the compressed air supply for the valveterminal.Due to energy stored in the input circuitry of valve ter minals, there may be a delayed reaction of the valves whenthe load voltage is switched off.Take this into consideration, e.g. as follows: by using an input signal in the controller for checkingwhether the load voltage has been switched off. by blocking the control signal for the valves by lockingthe output signal with the input signal Load voltage".1 18Festo P.BE CPASC CPVSC DP E N en 0610NH
