OPERATIONSERVICE & REPAIR - SAFETYCAUTION!DO NOT MODIFY THE SWEEPERIN ANY WAY. Personal injury couldresult. If you have questions, contactyour dealer or SWEEPSTER.Repair or adjust the sweeper in a safe area, awayfrom traffic and other hazards. Before adjusting or servicing the sweeper, lowerthe sweeper to the ground, stop the prime moverengine, set the brakes and remove the key from theignition. When working on or around the sweeper, lower itto the ground or secure it with transport chains orcylinder-stop locks.Stop the prime mover engine and cycle controllevers to release hydraulic pressure before servicingor adjusting sweeper hydraulic systems.WARNING!ESCAPING HYDRAULIC FLUIDCAN HAVE ENOUGH PRESSURETO PENETRATE THE SKIN, causingserious personal injury.Do not bend high pressure lines. Do not strike highpressure lines. Do not install bent lines, bent tubes,or kinked hoses. Do not install damaged lines, tubes, or hoses.Repair damaged or loose lines, tubes and hoses.Leaks can cause fires. See your SWEEPSTERdealer for repair or replacement parts.Replace the parts if any of the following conditionsare present:8 The end fittings are damaged or leaking. The outer covering is chafed or cut. The reinforcing wire layer is exposed. The outer covering is ballooning locally. The hose is kinked or crushed. The hose has been pulled or stretched.Make sure that all clamps, guards, and shields areinstalled correctly.CAUTION!A SWEEPER IS A DEMANDINGMACHINE. Only fully trainedoperators or trainee operators undersupervision of a fully trained personshould use this machine. Before operating sweeper: Learn sweeper and prime mover controls in anoff-road location. Be sure that you are in a safe area, away fromtraffic or other hazards. Check all hardware holding the sweeper to thehost machine, making sure it is tight. Replace any damaged or fatigued hardwarewith properly rated fasteners. Make sure all hydraulic hardware and hydraulicfittings are tight. Replace any damaged or fatigued fittings orhoses. Check all tire pressures before sweeping. Check tire ratings to be sure they match theprime mover load. Weigh the sweeper end ofthe prime mover, if necessary, to insure propertire rating. Remove from the sweeping area all propertythat could be damaged by flying debris. Be sure all persons not operating the sweeperare clear of the sweeper discharge area. Always wear proper apparel such as a longsleeved shirt buttoned at the cuffs; safetyglasses, goggles or a face shield; earprotection; and a dust mask. While operating sweeper: When operating sweeper, adhere to allgovernment rules, local laws and otherprofessional guidelines for your sweepingapplication.

Before leaving the operators area for anyreason, lower the sweeper to the ground. Stopthe prime mover engine, set the brakes andremove the key from the ignition.Run the prime mover and sweeper at a low idle.Check for hydraulic leaks or other problems andmake corrections, if necessary, before using thesweeper. Minimize flying debris - use the slowest rotatingspeed that will do the job.WARNING! Keep hands, feet, hair and other loose clothingaway from all moving parts. Leave the brush hood (shield) and all othershields and safety equipment in place whenoperating the sweeper and primer mover. Be aware of extra weight and width a sweeperadds. Reduce travel speed accordingly. Leave the brush hood (shield) and all othershields and safety equipment in place whenoperating the sweeper. When sweeping on rough terrain, reduce speedto avoid “bouncing” the sweeper. Loss ofsteering can result. Never sweep toward people, buildings, vehiclesor other objects that can be damaged by flyingdebris. Only operate the sweeper while you are in theseat of the prime mover. The seat belt must befastened while you operate the prime mover.Only operate the controls while the engine isrunning. Protective glasses must be worn whileyou operate the prime mover and while youoperate the sweeper. While you operate the sweeper slowly in anopen area, check for proper operation of allcontrols and all protective devices. Note anyrepairs needed during operation of the sweeper.Report any needed repairs.AVOID SERIOUS INJURY. Checkfor large objects that could harm theoperator or others if thrown by thesweeper. Remove these items beforeoperating.During UseCarry the sweeper low to the ground so that theoperator has good visibility and stability. Avoid anysudden movements from one side to the other sidewhen you carry a sweeper.Avoid excessive downward pressure on the brushsections to prevent excessive wear. A two to fourinch wide pattern is sufficient for most applications.Ensure that the motor and bearing plates areequally adjusted in order to prevent an uneven wearpattern.Directing DebrisObserve wind direction. Sweeping with the windmakes sweeping more effective and helps keepdebris off the operator. The terms swing and angle are usedinterchangeably.NOTICE!AVOID SWEEPER DAMAGE.Reduce travel speed to avoidhitting immovable objects. Before Each UsePerform daily maintenance as indicated inMaintenance Schedule.9

Brush, Engine & Travel SpeedsVary brush, engine and travel speeds to matchsweeping conditions.Dirt & GravelTo keep dust at a minimum, plan sweeping for dayswhen it is overcast and humid or after it has rained. Also, sweep so the wind blows at your back.Low brush speeds and moderate travel speeds workbest for cleaning debris from hard surfaces. Brushspeeds that are too fast tend to raise dust becauseof the aggressive sweeper action.BRUSHROTATIONTRAVELTo sweep gravel, use just enough brush speed to“roll” the gravel, not throw it.Heavy DebrisTravel slowly - 5 mph (8 kph).BRUSHROTATIONSweep a path less than the full width of thesweeper.Increase engine speed if debris becomes veryheavy.STORAGENOTICE!Do not store the sweeper withweight on the brush. Weight willdeform the bristles, destroying thesweeping effectiveness.Do not store polypropylenebrushes in direct sunlight. Thematerial can deteriorate andcrumble before the bristles areworn out.Keep polypropylene brushmaterial away from intense heat orflame.10TRAVELWARNING!EXPOSURE TO RESPIRABLECRYSTALLINE SILICADUST ALONG WITH OTHERHAZARDOUS DUSTS MAYCAUSE SERIOUS OR FATALRESPIRATORY DISEASE.It is recommended to use dustsuppression, dust collection andif necessary personal protectiveequipment during the operation ofany attachment that may cause highlevels of dust.
