Iwasn’t able to attend this meeting, however I heard from thosethat did attend that it was a very professional and comprehensive presentation. At the districtchangeover many clubs received recognition awards, whichprovided an excellent insight into the work done by clubs inour district in 2012-13. In line with the International theme,many awards were made for club “peace” projects.For the upcoming 2013/2014 year, PDG David Alexanderwill take over responsibility for a new District 9810 learningregime, which I understand will continue to come under the Rotary Leadership Institute. Johnpresented the awards atthe Beaumaris Life Saving Club (BLSC) 'NippersEvening'. BLSC have hada great season, with alarge increase in thenumber of children andparents participating inthe club. It has recentlybeen made mandatoryfor life saving clubs toprovide high visibilityrashie vests for memberswhen in the water, forsafety reasons. It hastherefore been a greathelp for BLSC that wehave provided a full setof these for all members, with the addedbenefit that they arenow also flying the rotary flag when at the club!Bunnings Sausage Sizzle; 17 JuneA band of hardy soles braved the cold, wind and rain todo our first Monday sausage sizzle at Bunnings Mentone.While being very cautious about what result we wouldget on a weekday and in such inclement weather the result; a net 566.05 made it all worthwhile.Also by maintaining our relationship with Bunnings itshould, hopefully, lead to favourable consideration formore lucrative days down the track. Well done to allwho did their bit on the day.Mental Health First Aid Workshop; 4 / 5JulyAs members should now beaware, we are hosting a MentalHealth First Aid Workshop inearly July. This activity fits wellwith the club's recent and ongoing focus on community healthand well-being.
