DCAS Citywide Training CenterDifferences Between Virtual and On-Site TrainingMany things that make you successful in an online training program or class are the samethings that make you successful in a traditional on-site class: participate and ask questions, listen, remain focused throughout the session, and complete course assignments. Onlinetraining is no longer the “new thing” in learning and development; it has been a learningand development tool since the late 1990s. To participate successfully in online training, besure to: Check that your computer and internet connection are working properly before thesession begins Read any pre-class instructions carefully regarding log-in and participationACCOMMODATION AND SUPPORTIf you require accommodation or support service, please call us at (212) 386-0005 or email usat citywidetrainingcent@dcas.nyc.gov.HOW TO APPLY FOR CITYWIDE ONLINE TRAININGTo apply for classes, participants must complete the DCAS Citywide Training Centerapplication located at the front of this catalog or on our website at www.nyc.gov/ctc.Applicants can use one form to apply for multiple courses.Applications must be e-signed or electronically approved via email transaction by animmediate supervisor and submitted to your agency’s designated Agency TrainingLiaison. Please get in touch with your Agency Personnel Officer for the name and contactinformation of the Training Liaison at your agency. The DCAS CTC has simplified the registration process for our courses and programs. You mayapply for courses offered by the Citywide L&D by following a few simple steps:What You Need To DoSTEP 1: Complete the required fields on the DCAS CTC Application at the end of thiscatalog. Please fill out the Training Applicant Information and Selected Course Informationsections.STEP 2: Forward your completed DCAS CTC Application to your supervisor for approval/authorization.STEP 3: Once your supervisor approves your application, they forward it to your agency’sTraining Liaison, who submits the completed training request to the DCAS Citywide TrainingCenter. (Note: The DCAS CTC will process training applications it receives from TrainingLiaisons under the assumption that Liaisons have obtained all permissions needed for you toparticipate in the selected course(s), including the Agency Fiscal Officers’ approvalif required). 17 Course Catalog Summer - Fall 2022

DCAS Citywide Training CenterWhat You Can ExpectShortly after you submit your training application, you will receive a confirmation from yourTraining Liaison that your training request has been processed. You will also receive instructions via email, including steps to log in, specific audioand computer requirements, and other relevant information from either your agencyrepresentative or the DCAS CTC and/or the vendor hosting the program. The DCAS CTC will not process any applications sent directly from an individual employeeand/or submitted without the required authorizing signatures. The DCAS CTC will send confirmations for training to Agency Liaisons in advance of thecourse(s). Agency Training Liaisons are responsible for notifying employees about the classesand dates of training that have been confirmed.Employees should not attend any class for which they did not receive a written confirmation. Please contact your Agency Training Liaison if you have questions about class confirmations.LIMITED CLASS SIZESSome online courses have limited enrollment (20-25 participants maximum), similar tothe enrollment caps in small, in-person sessions. Limited enrollment keeps class size toa manageable level for instructors and helps ensure a positive learning experience forprogram participants. For most online programs, registration is on a “first-come, first-served”basis, and the DCAS CTC will send course registration confirmations to Agency TrainingLiaisons in advance of the course(s). We recommend that you register early and contactyour Agency Training Liaison if you have questions about your course confirmation status.NYCAPS REGISTRATIONMayoral and Non-Mayoral agencies with access to NYCAPS must register staff for trainingthrough the NYCAPS training module.Agencies that do not have access to NYCAPS may complete the CTC Application andsubmit it via email to citywidetrainingcent@dcas.nyc.gov. Mayoral Agencies must establish an Intra-City Budget Modification (MOD) with DCAS.Checks are not accepted from mayoral agencies. We advise all agencies to anticipatetraining needs and expenses at the beginning of each fiscal year and set up budgetmodifications with DCAS at that time. Once granted, invoices are sent to agencies, andyour agency establishes the budget mod. CTC draws down upon the allocated funds. Non-Mayoral agencies must pay by check. Checks must be made payable to DCAS/CTC. Agency Training Liaison and/or Agency Fiscal Officer are responsible for ensuringthat payment is made to DCAS before training.Course Catalog Summer - Fall 2022 18
