The module is a main type andindependently connects to the redundant Fieldbus.Intelligent Transmitter Interface ChannelsEach Intelligent Transmitter interface channelprovides isolated power and communicationcapabilities to an Intelligent Transmitter over a singlepair of wires. Each interface channel provides bidirectional digital communications between anIntelligent Transmitter and the redundant Fieldbus.The Intelligent Transmitter interface portion of themodule is a transmitter host, thus enabling thesystem to receive digital messages from thetransmitter in engineering units. Each measurementmessage is received ten times per second andcontains: Two measured variables (that is, primarypressure and transmitter temperature) in IEEE32-bit floating-point Security information Diagnostics Message checking.This information is available to all elements of thesystem.Product Specifications

In addition, information that can bedisplayed or reconfigured from the console or a HandHeld Terminal (PSS 2A-1Z3 A) is: Output in engineering unitsFail-safe stateTag number, name and locationDevice name (letterbug)Last calibration dateTwo levels of upload/download capabilities.An optional style of termination cable assembly isavailable which includes built-in bypass jacks foreach output channel on the front connector of theFieldbus Module. Jacks accept a bypass plug fromthe I/A Series Output Bypass Station or other external20 mA source. This option should be considered forapplications where maintaining output is desiredduring maintenance operations, for example, whenreplacing a failed module.Output ChannelsThe Intelligent Transmitter interface portion of themodule executes the Intelligent Transmitterapplication program. The configurable options for thisprogram are Fieldbus Switching Enable and FieldbusSwitching Time.Each output channel drives an external load andproduces a 0 to 20 mA output. Each output channelperforms the signal conversion required to interfacethe electrical output signals to field actuators from theredundant Fieldbus.The output channel porton of the module executesthe analog I/O application program.
