G lfer’s GlanceMAY/JUNE 2022WELCOMEto Summer atWaterlefe Golf Club!GOLF & RIVERC LU BIMPORTANT PHONENUMBERS & HOURSOF OPERATIONPRO SHOP HOURSOpen Daily 7am - 6pm(941) 744-9771GRILLE ROOM HOURS8am – 6pmTo order call (941) 718-4835GENERAL MANAGERCDD & GOLF CLUBSteve Dietz (941) 718-4842DIRECTOR OF GOLFMark Trotter (941) 744-9771MEMBERSHIP& MARKETINGJanice Reed (941) 718-4848HEAD GOLFPROFESSIONALMatt Primrose (941) 744-9771GATE ATTENDANT(941) 708-6866Our major golf season is wrappingup and it has been an excitingone at that. We were certainlyblessed with great weather anda great golf course conditionsto enjoy our event calendar thisyear. Congratulations to all ourwinners this year and thanks forparticipating in our competitions. Our lady’s and men’s major eventshad great attendance and evensurpassed previous rosters. Weadded additional categories to theclub championships this year whichincreased player participation. Aswe head into the summer season, the maintenance staff must startits aerification process which willstart at the end of May. In orderto keep our greens and playingsurfaces in great condition wemust perform this task. Eventhough it’s a minor inconvenience,it will generate major results aswe return to season. During thisperiod it will be a great time to visitour reciprocal golf courses in thearea. Please have the professionalstaff make the call for your groupand set up your tee time. It willbe a nice preview for next yearwhen the course will be closedfor the heavy renovation. Toour northern members who areheading back we wish safe travelshome and a cool golf season. To our resident and year-roundmembers please remember to makeyour tee times early and makeadjustments as soon as possibleso we can accommodate as manyplayers especially during the earlymorning. The summer monthscan be a “little warm” and theafternoon showers tend to dampeneighteen golf rounds. Group teetime adjustments will allow moreplayers to complete their roundsand get more members through intimely fashion. Our facility will alsoopen up to a few outside groupoutings. Many of these fundraising functions are a great wayto expose our facility to potentialnew members. We will keep youabreast of our calendar of eventsand course closures. On behalf of the golf staff Iwould like to thank all of you foryour support this past season. It certainly has been a pleasuregetting to know all the membersand serving as your staff. We lookforward to a great summer of golfat Waterlefe Golf Club.Director of GolfMark Trotter
