PurposeThe purpose of the Student Code of Conduct is to provide clear expectations for students enrolled at Gladstone State High Schoolin relation to their behaviour to ensure a safe, supportive and inclusive work and learning environment is provided. School Captains/LeadersThe school, through the consultation phase of the Student Code of Conduct, engaged the SeniorStudent Council, Junior Student Council and Peer Mentors to provide feedback and input from thestudent body on each of the polices and procedures that have been developed to support thisdocument.On behalf of the student body at Gladstone State High School, we endorse the Student Code ofConduct for 2021. We have represented students on the consultation committee, provided feedbackon draft materials and put forward the views of young people on a range of issues affecting theirlives at school. Throughout the year, we will continue to work with the school administration teamand the Gladstone State High School’s P&C Association on how the Student Code of Conduct isworking, identify areas for improvement and present alternative options or suggestions forconsideration.Student feedback will be sought from the Senior Student Council, Junior Student Council, PeerMentors and Class Captains throughout 2021 as the school refines the policies.5

Data sets considered whenanalysing student behaviours include relevant sections from the School Opinion Survey (Parent, Student andStaff), Gladstone SHS’s Headline Indicators (SDA data, Enrolment and Attendance statistics).Data is collated in OneSchool through staff at the school recording behaviour incidents in the BehaviourSupport function. ConsultationGladstone State High School undertook the planning and implementation of the Student Code of Conducte throughout 2020 withthe intention to review the Student Code of Conduct and supporting policies and prcedures throughout 2021.The Deputy Principal responsible for the Student Code of Conduct undertook the following process to ensure a qualityconsultation process was followed.Phase 1: Review of relevant Education Queensland Policeis and Procedures, Acts, Regulations and Human Rights to fullyunderstand the intent of each of the policies.Phase 2: Drafting of Gladstone State High School Policies.Phase 3: Consultation phaseI.With the Senior Executive Team including Principal, Deputy Principals, Deputy Principal – Inclusion, Head of SchoolSenior, Head of School Junior and Business Service Managers.
