While we may have not gotten the rainfall we traditionally wouldreceive in the month of April, it gave us prime topless drivingweather. Bluebonnets, burgers, and berries were just a few of thehighlights that stick out to me from the past month’s events wehosted– check out the recaps below if you weren’t able to make itout to one of them. One of the common questions I’ve been asked is why we hostevents where we do and if we can do one in their local area of(insert city here) and the answer is yes, of course! Remember thatall of our events are hosted by volunteers and it’s important toconsider the geographical size our club covers and theconcentrations of where those members reside, which makes itvery difficult to make it convenient for everyone. To give you anidea of where are current club members designate as home on theirmembership form I’ve added some pinpoints on the map below.2

I’m also sharing the final results from the survey which was usedto capture interest on types of events members are mostinterested in. You can see the overwhelming amount of interest inhalf day ride and drives, which has been reflected as the mostcommon type of event we’ve hosted so far in 2022.Now as we head into planning for June and beyond our calendaris very much open and we’re looking for events to schedule.Make your voice heard and reach out to myself via a text/email:President@LSMiata.org or any of the other officers if you havean event you’d like to host, or if you want to talk through an ideayou have for an event.I look forward to seeing you out at the next club event. What a fun and memorable day (4/09/22) in and around Ennis today! The weathercould not have been more pleasant to see and smell all the bluebonnets which wereout and plentiful in the area. We had a great turnout of Miata’s, thanks for thosewho joined me.Along our 107 mile trip we intercepted a bicycle road race, stopped for a photoopportunity, snacked on kolaches, saw a dozen different types of animals out andabout, swung by the Ellis County Courthouse to check off everyone’s 2022 TexasMiata Challenge, and ate some good Italian food at Tuscan Slice.Submitted by Brent Kemish.Attendees were: Richard Rogers, Terrie Campbell, Mark & Sue Christman, HeatherGraham & Doug Long, Brent Kemish, Chris & Sandra Osborn, Joe & Gina Quisenberry,Gerry & Suzanne Sauls, Hunter & Jennifer Smith, Chris Soignier, Tri Nguyen, MaryWharton, Zac & Francis Dickerson, Yusef & Tina, Dave ThomasLet’s have a driver’s meeting at QuikTrip before heading out to see Bluebonnets andending in Waxahachie classic Italian and Pizza.9

Today’s run (4/16/22) started in Allen and we explored some backroads up intoPrinceton, Blue Ridge, and Leonard before heading back to Parker for lunch throughCeleste and Farmersville. It was great to see a turnout of 8 cars show up on a holidayweekend for a drive. The sky looked like it wanted to rain at any moment all morning, but the weatherheld off and we had the entire drive under mostly cloudy skies with temperatures inthe mid 70’s.We did have one mishap with a club members tire from a pothole 8 miles from ourdestination, but luckily she had run-flats on her car (tire would not hold air) and wasable to find a tire shop with a replacement available and make it there safely withhelp from another member – thank you Chris Osborn. The rest of us continued on and made a stop for lunch at Kelly's Family Farm BurgerStand. For those who haven’t been and are happen to be in the area I recommendstopping and giving them a shot, the burger was delicious. Today (4/23/22) we went on a trip out to east to Pittsburg and took the scenic route starting fromRockwall and then through Quinlan, Emory, and WInnsboro.Along the way we crossed 4 different lakes before stopping at Herschel’s Restaurant for some lunch(the chicken fried steak was tasty) before ending the day just down the road at Efurd Orchards.Efurd had a huge variety of canned and bottled items for sale at their market, along with plenty offresh fruit, veggies, and homemade ice cream.Thank you to Brian for leading and navigating the run as copilot, with Julia behind the wheel! It’s April and everything is turningGreen. A Great drive throughEast Texas. The old Efurd DeliveryTruckWe ended with Lunch at Herschell’s Restaurant14

Bluebonnets were still out and about in the Ennis area on our run today (4/24), butlooks like the peak was last week. There was a larger variety of other wildflowerssprinkled in on our journey compared to the run on 4/9.Still a great run and ride on a mostly overcast day, and there were only 2 bicyclists onthe entire 107 mile trip to pass.Bluebonnets were still in bloom for our Miatas doing the Bluebonnet Re-RunSetting up for TexasMiata Challenge photosat the Ellis CountyCourthouse inWaxahachie15

What a great run down to Glen Rose today (4/30/22) We had excellent weather, windy roads, andgreat food at the Loco Coyote (Aussie burger was top notch). There was a great turnout - 17 Miata’s in total.
