EAST’s Financial SoundnessEAST is in sound financial health: Anticipate a budget surplus for FY21 of at least 15,000 due tolack of travel and reduced in-person member meeting expense Current reserve funds at just over 140,000 and will grow in FY22based on anticipated budget surplus FY22 budget will increase slightly to accommodate higher feesfor our Gold Rush subscription but travel and in-person meetingexpenses likely to remain low No membership dues increases anticipated

Formed in 2015, as a collaborationof regional programs interested incoordinating their efforts on alarger scale to ensure the retentionof and access to print lliance.org/

The Rosemont Alliance defines “New Titles” as the first three journal retentioncommitments of each unique OCLC number, ISSN, or alternative title- level identifier.Expressed in a different way, a title is considered “New” until the Rosemont Alliancereaches three retention commitments for that title.

EAST Program Assessment Goals: To understand the importance of the EAST mission tomember libraries, evaluate how EAST is doing in support of themission, and seek input into EAST’s future strategic planning. Process: Survey sent to Voting Members and OperationalContacts at member libraries requesting a single institutionalresponse. Timing: Initial survey sent early November with preliminarydeadline of November 20th. Final deadline is December 31, 2020.Thanks to all who have responded already!

More on the Program Assessment How EAST and shared print figure in the library’s strategicplanning “Shared print and initiatives like EAST figure prominently into strategicand operational planning, allowing strategy around collection buildingbased on availability of print collections in local/national/internationalnetworks accessible via resource sharing.”“Shared print is an important part of our strategic framework forpreserving the scholarly record as well as enabling us to reduce thesize of our open stacks collection to improve its browsability.”“ We know we cannot solve all print collection issues locally.”

Implications for the Future of EAST As we expand our membership and the collective collection of EAST 94% saw collections that expand the diversity of the EAST collectivecollection as most important90% felt recruiting new Retention Partners is an important strategy insupport of the EAST mission74% of Retention Partners are Very Likely or Somewhat Likely toparticipate in future collection analysis – depending on cost More focus on access 88% saw an important role for EAST in facilitating digitization ofretained titles in support of expanded accessA number of open ended comments focused on the importance ofreciprocal ILL and need for improved discoverability
