What is Semester at CSUN?Semester at CSUN (SAC) is a study abroadprogram that enables international studentsto enroll for one semester or one year. Housing and TransportationHousingNorthridge is a “university town,” withmany shops and restaurants within walkingdistance of campus. Many students live oncampus in furnished, apartment-style unitswithin a secure, gated environment. Thestudent housing area includes laundryrooms, swimming pools, sports courts, asatellite student services office, a coffeeshop and lounge areas for relaxing andstudying. FAQsProgram Requirements❯ Where is CSUN?❯ Do I need a car?CSUN is located in the center of Northridge,a neighborhood in Los Angeles that isapproximately 30 km from Santa Monicaand Hollywood.After you have been accepted, SAC programadvisors will contact you with feedback onthe course selections submitted with yourapplication. Students usually receive aconfirmed class schedule or plan of studyapproximately two or three weeks beforethe start of the semester.A car is not necessary for students living oncampus or in nearby neighborhoods. A widerange of restaurants and stores are withinwalking or biking distance. Many activitiesplanned by student groups or the InternationalPrograms office include transportation. TheCSUN Transit Station connects you to Metrobus lines and a free shuttle to the Metrolinktrain station. Zipcar vehicles are also availableon campus for short-term car rental. However,if you are planning to live farther from campusor travel beyond the L.A. area, having orrenting a vehicle is recommended.❯ Am I guaranteed my choice of courses?❯ What if I get sick?While no specific course selection can beguaranteed, we will do our best to enrollyou in as many of your preferred coursesas possible, based on your eligibility andcourse availability.Scholarships are not available to SAC students.CSUN is located near three majorhospitals in case of a medical emergency.For non-emergencies, the Student HealthCenter is located on campus and providesservices at little or no cost.
