March 2020 Greeley Central High News Happenings at the Castle Greeley Central High School News Main Office 970-348-5000 Attendance 970-348-5014 School Website http://www.greeley schools.org/greeley central Page 1 March 2020 A Message from our Principal February was a busy month for the Wildcats. We sent six wrestlers to State, three choir members to State; twenty-one students to HOSA State, eight students to All-City Orchestra, eight students to the FBLA district competition, four students to the DECA State competition, and we hosted a first round girls’ basketball playoff game in Jim Baggot Gymnasium. We hosted future Wildcats from middle school in our building; we had our first Parent Teacher Conferences of the 2nd semester, and it was awesome to have the parents provide dinner for the faculty and staff. On February 14, we held our third annual “I Love My Future” event. About 150 seniors joined to complete Bright Futures, Colorado Opportunity Fund and FAFSA applications, get scholarship information, and speak with representatives about next steps. The event was highlighted as seniors utilized a photo booth and decorated a cookie. In March we will begin to prepare for testing. We have SAT, PSAT10 and PSAT9 coming up in early April. Teachers will be working with their students on test-strategies. Also, our AP students will begin preparing for AP tests later in May. School Calendar http://www.greeley schools.org/Page/ 50 Attendance continues to be a concern. Our Average daily attendance is 86.9%--very low—since the beginning of this semester. That means on average 210 students are not in class each day. Parents please help us encourage your students to be in every class every day. Please stress the importance of creating the habit of showing up consistently. It is important for your son or daughter’s future.
