GETTING STARTED WITH EASYPLANNER PLUS—FIRST TIME USER The first time you log on to EasyPlanner Plus, you will be directed to the Create a Class page. You will need to create a class in order to begin using EasyPlanner Plus. GETTING STARTED—CREATING YOUR INITIAL CLASS Once the Create a Class page (see next page) appears, follow the steps below: Step 1—Class Information and Initial Calendar Setup 1. Enter the class name. 2. Select a start and end date (month, day, year) from the drop-down menus. 3. Select the type of scheduling for your class from the drop-down menu. The three scheduling options are: Regular Class Period: When your Planbook is created a class period will be scheduled every day of the school week for approximately 40-60 minutes. A/B Block Scheduling: When your Planbook is created A/B Block Scheduling, or Alternate-Day Scheduling, will be implemented. Classes will be scheduled to meet every other day for approximately 85-120 minutes. 4/4 Block Scheduling: When your Planbook is created 4/4 Block Scheduling, or Semester Plan, will be implemented. Classes will be scheduled to meet every day for half of the year for approximately 85-120 minutes. 4. If you do not want to add prepared lessons to your class at this time, select “Start with a blank calendar.” Click Next. 5. After the screen refreshes, click Finished. 6. If you would like to add prepared lessons to your new class, select “Choose which lessons you wish to teach from the Table of Contents below.” (Step 2) and click Next. Step 2—Choose Lessons from Table of Contents 1. Select the lessons you would like to teach. You can either choose the entire book by clicking on Select All or you can select individual units, chapters or lessons by checking the box preceding your selection. 2. After all selections have been made, scroll down to the bottom of the Table of Contents and click Next. EasyPlanner Plus User Guide Page 7

Step 3 – Set Lesson Order (Optional) 1. If you would like the lessons to be scheduled in book order, click Done to see a month view of your class on the Planbook page. 2. If you would like to change the lesson order, highlight a lesson and use the Move Up or Move Down buttons to change the order of your lessons, then click Done. This will also bring you to the Month View calendar of your new class on the Planbook page. EASYPLANNER PLUS HOME PAGE After your initial login to EasyPlanner Plus, you will no longer be prompted to create a class to get started. The program will open to the Home page with the option to go to the Planbook, Browse Ancillaries, or File Cabinet tabs. EasyPlanner Plus User Guide Page 8

HOME PAGE OVERVIEW The Home page allows you to quickly access the Planbook, Browse Ancillaries, or the File Cabinet function. PLANBOOK—Your Planbook maintains the calendar of your lesson plans. (Clicking on Planbook will take you back to the Month View for your default class—the first class you created.) BROWSE ANCILLARIES—The Browse Ancillaries feature allows you to find resources by keyword, chapter, ancillary book, or state standards. FILE CABINET—With your File Cabinet you can save and organize all of your supporting resources—activities and lessons—via a flexible, easily modified file structure. GLOBAL LINKS No matter which of the three Home Page options you choose—Planbook, Browse Ancillaries, or File Cabinet—a menu bar will appear in the upper-right corner of your screen which contains the following links: Preferences, Help, Contact and ClassZone. PREFERENCES The Preferences feature allows you to change your default class or change your default home page across all classes. To set the default class that opens from start-up or from the Planbook: 1. Click the Preferences icon in the upper-right corner of the screen. 2. The Preferences pop-up window will appear. 3. Select the class you wish to use as your default from the menu and click Ok. To change your home page: 1. Click Preferences icon in the upper-right corner of the screen. 2. The Preferences pop-up window will appear. 3. Select the page you wish to use as your home page from the menu and click Ok. HELP To find answers to the questions you have about using EasyPlanner Plus: 1. Click the Help icon in the upper-right corner of the screen. 2. The Help: Basics page will appear. 3. From the left menu bar, you can select any of the following Help topics: Basics, Class Management, Planbook, Lesson, Browse Ancillaries, or File Cabinet. 4. There are also sub-topics within each main topic. Sub-topics can be accessed by scrolling down the page or by clicking on the appropriate link under the Main Topic title. 5. You may also print out this User Guide for reference. CONTACT EasyPlanner Plus User Guide Page 10

If you have comments about EasyPlanner Plus or questions that are not answered in the Help section or User Guide: 1. Click Contact icon in the upper-right corner of the screen. 2. The Contact pop-up page will appear. 3. Type in your e-mail address, select a topic, enter your comment or question, and click Submit. 4. A Contact page with the message “Thank you for writing us!” will appear to confirm your message has been sent. 5. From the Contact page you may also click Tech Support on the left-hand side of the screen to report or ask questions about technical issues. 6. Click Questionnaire on the left-hand side of the screen to give your input for future versions of EasyPlanner Plus. CLASSZONE The ClassZone link will allow you to logout and return to the ClassZone Home Page. 1. Click the ClassZone icon in the upper-right corner of the screen. 2. A pop-up will appear asking if you are ready to logout of EasyPlanner Plus. Click OK. 3. You will be returned to the Sign In page. To re-enter your eServices Home page, enter your Username and Password and click Submit. EasyPlanner Plus User Guide Page 11

PLANBOOK After you set up your first class, you will be taken to the Month View calendar in the Planbook tab. After your initial login, you can access the Planbook tab from the Home Page. From the Planbook you can: 1. Navigate between classes. (See page 17.) 2. View each of your existing class schedules by day, week, or month. (See page 18.) 3. Open existing class lessons directly from your calendar view. 4. Add lessons to your classes from the program Table of Contents. (See page 21.) 5. Delete, reschedule, or change the length of existing lessons. (See pages 24–27.) 6. Create your own lessons. (See page 28.) 7. Add Holidays, Vacations and Non-Teaching days to all class calendars. (See pages 39–41.) 8. View your classes, create new classes, and edit existing classes. (See pages 34–38.) EasyPlanner Plus User Guide Page 12

You can also use the tabs at the top of the screen to switch between the Home, Planbook, Browse Ancillaries, and File Cabinet pages. BROWSE ANCILLARIES The Browse Ancillaries feature allows you to find resources by keyword, chapter, ancillary book, or state standards. Finding Resources for Your Lesson Plans 1. Click the Browse Ancillaries tab. 2. You have the option to: Search by Keyword, Browse by Chapter, Search by Ancillary Book, or Search by State Standards. Browse Ancillaries—Search by Keyword 1. Enter the keyword you would like to search for and click Submit. 2. The Results page will appear displaying all of the activities and lessons that contain that keyword. 3. To view an activity from the Activities tab: select and double-click on that activity. This will take you to the View Activity page. From this page, you can View the Activity, Print an Activity, Save an Activity to the File Cabinet or Schedule an Activity. 4. To view a lesson from the Lessons tab: select a lesson and double-click on its title. The Lesson View will appear. 5. To view activities from the Lessons tab: click on View Resources. A list of activities will appear. To view a specific activity, double-click on that activity. You will be taken to the View Activity page from which you can View an Activity, Print an Activity, Save an Activity to the File Cabinet or Schedule an Activity. Browse Ancillaries—Browse by Chapter 1. Under Browse by Chapter, select a chapter from the drop-down menu and click Submit. 2. The Results page will appear. 3. To view a chapter lesson in detail, double-click on its title. The Lesson View will appear. (See page 25 for more detail on Lesson View.) 4. To view available resources, click View Resources. A list of activities will appear. To view a specific activity, double-click on that activity. You will be taken to the View Activity page from which you can View an Activity, Print an Activity, Save an Activity to the File Cabinet or Schedule an Activity. Browse Ancillaries—Search by Ancillary 1. Under Search by Ancillary, select an ancillary book from the drop-down menu and click Submit. 2. A Results page will appear with a list of resources. 3. To view a resource, first double-click on the title of that resource. The View Activity page will appear. From this page, you can View the Activity, Print an Activity, Save an Activity to the File Cabinet or Schedule an Activity. Saving Resources Found in Your Search 1. 2. 3. 4. Click on the resource that you want to save from your results. Click Save to File Cabinet on the left-hand side of the screen. Select a folder or create a new folder. Click Submit to save. Scheduling Resources Found in Your Search 1. 2. 3. 4. Click on the resource that you want to schedule from your results. Click Schedule this Activity on the left-hand side of the screen. Select the class, month, day, and year. Click Submit to schedule. FILE CABINET You can access this feature by choosing File Cabinet on the Home page or by selecting the File Cabinet tab at any point while using EasyPlanner Plus. The File Cabinet allows you to save and organize all of your supporting resources—homework, activities, and lessons—via a flexible, easily modified file structure. Expanding and Collapsing Folders within the File Cabinet To expand a folder in the File Cabinet to view its content, either click Expand all Folders in the left menu or click on the “ ” symbol next to a folder you would like to expand. To collapse a folder in the File Cabinet to hide its content, either click Collapse all Folders in the left menu or click on the “-” symbol next to a folder you would like to collapse. Adding a Main Folder 1. Click Add a Main Folder. 2. The Add New Folder pop-up window will appear. Enter the name of the new folder and click Submit. 3. The new folder will appear in your File Cabinet. Renaming a Folder or File 1. Select a folder or file to rename and click on the next to that selection. 2. The Rename Folder/File pop-up will appear. Enter the new name for this folder/file and click Submit. 3. The new sub-folder or file name will appear in your File Cabinet. Moving a File to a New Folder 1. Select a folder or file to move and click on the next to that selection. 2. The Move Folder/File pop-up will appear. Select a new location for this item and click Submit. 3. The selected item will appear in its new location in the File Cabinet. Deleting a File or Folder 1. Select a folder or file to delete and click on the next to that selection. 2. The message “Are you sure you want to permanently delete this folder and all of its contents?” will appear. Click Submit. 3. The selected item will be deleted from the File Cabinet. Creating a Sub-folder 1. Select a folder under which you would like to create a sub-folder and click on the . 2. The message Add New Sub-Folder pop-up will appear. Enter a name for the subfolder and click Submit. EasyPlanner Plus User Guide Page 16

3. The new sub-folder will be added to your File Cabinet listing. Opening a Lesson in the File Cabinet Within a folder, simply click on any lesson link. is the symbol for a lesson. Opening a Resource in the File Cabinet Within a folder, simply click on any resource link. is the symbol for a resource. CLASS NAVIGATION AND VIEWS NAVIGATING BETWEEN CLASSES Moving Between Existing Classes 1. Open your Planbook either from Home or the Planbook tab at the top of the Calendar View page. 2. Use the Jump to: menu in the upper left-hand corner to select a class to view and click Go. 3. You can also see all the classes you’ve created by clicking View List of Classes under Class Options in the left-hand menu (see page 32). DIFFERENT WAYS TO VIEW A CLASS MONTH VIEW The month view shows you your lesson plans for the entire month. A month view of your default class appears as the default page when you choose Planbook from the EasyPlanner Plus Home Page. Viewing the Monthly Calendar 1. Select Month View from the center menu at the top of the Planbook tab. This view is also your default view in the Planbook. Changing the Month in View 1. Select the month from the Jump to: menu in the upper right-hand corner of the calendar and click the Go button. 2. You can also browse from month to month using the forward and back arrows next to the name of the month. EasyPlanner Plus User Guide Page 17

Printing Your Calendar View 1. Click Print Month View icon from the upper-right corner of the calendar screen. A Print Preview of your calendar will appear. 2. Click Print in the upper left-hand corner of the window. 3. The Print pop-up window will appear. Click Ok. 4. Click Close Window in the upper right-hand corner, to return to the Month View. (Note: Some browsers may not support this method of direct printing. If your browser does not, go to File/Print Menu and print manually.) Viewing a Lesson in Detail 1. Click on the lesson title. 2. WEEK VIEW The Week View gives you an overview of the lesson plans for a specific week. Viewing the Weekly Calendar 1. Select Week View from the center menu at the top of the Planbook tab. Viewing Previous or Subsequent Weeks 1. Click the arrows to the left for the previous week. 2. Click the arrows to the right for the next week. Printing the Week View Calendar 1. 2. 3. 4. Click Print Week View on the left-hand side of the screen. Click Print in the upper left-hand corner of the window. The Print pop-up window will appear. Click Ok. Click Close Window in the upper right-hand corner to return to the Week View. Viewing a Lesson in Detail 1. Click the lesson title on the calendar. EasyPlanner Plus User Guide Page 19

2. This will take you to the Lesson View (see page 25). DAY VIEW The Day View shows you the activities listed for the lesson plan on a specific day. Viewing the Daily Calendar 1. To view the first scheduled lesson for your class, click Day View from the center menu at the top of the screen. 2. For a different day’s lessons click on a date from the calendar in the lower-left corner of the screen. Viewing Previous and Subsequent Days 1. Click the arrows to the left for the previous day. 2. Click the arrows to the right for the next day. 3. You also can click on a date from the calendar in the lower-left corner of the screen. Printing Your Day View 1. Click Print in the upper left-hand corner of the window. EasyPlanner Plus User Guide Page 20

2. The Print pop-up window will appear. Click Ok. 3. Click Close Window in the upper right-hand corner to return to the Day View. Viewing a Lesson in Detail 1. Click the lesson title on the calendar. 2. This will take you to the Lesson View. LESSONS AND ACTIVITIES LESSONS—ADDING LESSONS FROM THE TABLE OF CONTENTS Adding Existing Lessons from the Table of Contents to a Created Class (from any view) Under Lesson Options in the left-hand menu, click the Add Lesson from Table of Contents link. The following three steps will allow you to add lessons: Step 1—Choose Lessons from Table of Contents 1. Check the boxes for the units, chapters, or sections you would like added to your class. You can select all lessons by choosing the Select All button at the top of the list. 2. Once all lessons are selected, click Next. This will bring you to Step 2. EasyPlanner Plus User Guide Page 21

Step 2—Set Lesson Order 1. If you would like the lessons to be scheduled in book order, click Next to move on to Step 3. 2. If you would like to change the lesson order, highlight a lesson and use the Move Up or Move Down buttons to change the order of your lessons, then click Next. This will bring you to Step 3. Step 3—Schedule 1. Using the drop-down menu, select the date you’d like the new lessons to begin. 2. Determine whether you would like to adjust your current schedule to accommodate the new lessons (pushing any existing lessons back to follow the new lessons) or to not adjust your schedule (allowing some days to have overlapping lessons scheduled). Select an option and click Ok. 3. If you chose to adjust your current schedule to accommodate the new lessons, a pop-up will appear titled Automatic Schedule Adjustment. Read the message and click Ok to continue. 4. The Planbook—Month View will appear with your new lesson(s) added to the calendar. LESSONS—DELETING AN EXISTING LESSON 1. Click Delete under Lesson Options in the left-hand menu. The Delete window will appear. 2. Select the month in which the lesson is scheduled. 3. Select the lesson from the list. 4. Choose whether or not you want EasyPlanner to automatically adjust the lesson dates to accommodate the change. If you choose “Automatically adjust schedule dates to accommodate this change,” the dates will shift and no days will be skipped in your lesson plan. If you choose “Do not adjust the schedule,” the dates will not shift and the day of this lesson will be left blank. 5. Click Ok to delete the resource. 6. Click Cancel to leave the resource in place. Select the Lesson from the list of lessons for that month. Choose the month, day, and year to which you’d like to move the lesson. Choose whether or not you want EasyPlanner Plus to automatically adjust the lesson dates to accommodate the change. If you choose “Automatically adjust schedule dates to accommodate this change,” the move may cause some lessons to shift. If you choose “Do not adjust the schedule,” the moved class may overlap with another existing class. 6. Click Ok to move the Lesson or Activity. EasyPlanner Plus User Guide Page 25

LESSONS—CHANGING THE LENGTH OF A LESSON 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Click Change Length of Lesson in the left-hand menu. Select the Month in which the lesson is scheduled. Select the Lesson from the list of lessons for that month. Select the New Length of the lesson. Choose whether or not you want EasyPlanner to automatically adjust the lesson dates to accommodate the change. If you choose “Automatically adjust schedule dates to accommodate this change,” the move may cause some lessons to shift. If you choose “Do not adjust the schedule,” the moved class may overlap with another existing class. 6. Click Ok to change the length. 7. Click Cancel to leave the lesson length as it stands. LESSONS—CREATE YOUR OWN LESSON AND ADD ACTIVITIES Creating Your Own Lesson Plan 1. From the Planbook tab, click Create Your Own Lesson under Lesson Options in the left-hand menu. 2. Enter the title of the lesson plan in the Title field. 3. Set the Length from the drop-down menu. 4. Enter the Core Objectives. 5. Click Continue to Day 1. From any Day View of this lesson, you have the option to add existing activities or to create your own activities for that day. Adding Your Own Activities to Your Plan 1. Click the Create Your Own Activity button. The Create Your Own Activity page for that day will appear. 2. Enter the title of the activity in the Title field. 3. Enter the Duration in minutes. 4. Enter a description of the activity in the large field. 5. Click Ok to save the activity or click Cancel to exit without creating an activity. 6. Your new activity will be listed under Add Activities on the Create Your Own Lesson day view page. 7. Click the Edit button to the right of the activity to make changes to your activity. 8. Click the Remove button to the right of the activity to delete it. EasyPlanner Plus User Guide Page 28

Adding McDougal Littell Activities to Your Plan 1. Click the Search for Activities button. 2. Follow the steps shown under Browse Ancillaries on page 12 of this User Guide to conduct your search. 3. After the results of your search appear, check the boxes next to the activities you wish to add. If you are searching by chapter or by state standards, you may need to click on View Resources to view and select the activities. 4. To add activities and continue browsing the activity list, click Add selected & go to Next/Previous. 5. Click Add Activities to Your Lesson to add activities and return to your lesson plan. 6. Click Back to Search to add no activities and return to the Browse Ancillaries Home page. 7. Added activities will be listed under the Add Activities section on the Create Your Own Lesson day view page. 8. Click the Remove button to delete the activity from the lesson plan. Making Changes to Your Lesson’s Overview 1. Click Back to Overview. 2. Make your changes. 3. Click Continue to Day 1. Saving Your Lesson Plan 1. Click the Preview & Exit button. 2. Click the Save to File Cabinet button if you have no more changes. 3. The Save Your Own Lesson window will appear. Select a folder or create a new folder in which to save your lesson. 4. Select whether you would like to schedule your lesson on the calendar now or later then click Ok. EasyPlanner Plus User Guide Page 29

Scheduling Your Lesson Now Select the class where you would like to schedule your lesson. Select a start date. Choose whether you want EasyPlanner Plus to move existing lesson plans to make room for the newly scheduled lesson, or to allow lessons to overlap (more than one lesson on a single day). Click Ok to save the plan. If you selected to automatically adjust the schedule, a pop-up window will appear. Select whether you would like dates to shift with the schedule change or if you would prefer to have lessons overlap to accommodate this change. The Automatic Schedule Adjustment window will appear. Click Ok to continue. The lesson will be scheduled and you will be returned to the Planbook Month calendar page. Scheduling Your Lesson Later A Lesson View of your lesson will appear. Click Schedule under the Lesson Options menu if you would still like to schedule your lesson. LESSONS—EDITING A LESSON FROM LESSON VIEW Editing Lesson Content and Activities 1. From the Planbook calendar view, click on the title of the lesson you wish to change. The Lesson View for that day will appear. 2. From the Lesson View click on Edit this Lesson in the left-hand menu. EasyPlanner Plus User Guide Page 30

3. Make changes to the Title, Length, and Core Objectives as needed. Click Continue to Day 1. 4. To add your own activities, follow the instructions on Page 28 of this User Guide. 5. LESSONS—ADDING AND REMOVING RESOURCES TO AN EXISTING LESSON Adding a Resource to a Publisher-Created Lesson 1. From the Planbook, click on the name of a lesson plan on your calendar. 2. Choose a category and expand the category’s Related Resources listed in the right-hand column by clicking the “ .” 3. Add a checkmark to the resources that you would like to include. (NOTE: You can view resource content by clicking on the title of the resource) 4. Click the Add to Activities button. 5. The selected activities will be added to your plan under the selected category. Removing a Resource 1. Click the Remove button to the right of the activity. 2. Click Ok to remove the activity. 3.
