5.0 INSTALLATION AND SETUP5.1 InstallationBefore you startPlease ensure that you have a Bosch Smart Home Controller andthe Bosch Smart Home App, and that you have set both of them upsuccessfully.You can also watch easy to follow installation videos on our t the Bosch Smart Home App andselect “Add device”.The app will prompt you to scan theQR code found on the back of thesmoke detector.17

5.2 Activating the deviceThe next step in the app is theactivation of the smoke detector.Twist the smoke detector into themounting bracket.The Smoke Detector is operational once it is twisted into the mountingbracket. Please note that inadvertently pressing the operating buttonwill trigger a test alarm.From this point, the app guides you through the installation process.You will find a detailed description in this instruction manual.1819

6.0 MOUNTING THE SMOKE DETECTOR6.1 Mounting instructionsIt is best practice to install several smoke detectors in your hometo be fully protected. As a minimum we recommend that they areinstalled in every bedroom, kids room and in all hallways that serve asan escape route. For the maximum effectiveness we recommendthat additional smoke detectors should be installed in living areas,attics and basements.In order to prevent injury, the mounting instructions in this instructionmanual must be followed and the general safety regulations observed.Poss.YesNo2021

You canchoose between mounting with eitherthe screws or the adhesive strip. 1m 20 When choosing a mounting location and when drilling, pay attentionto potential electrical cables and/or pipes that could be behind thewall.Ensure you have positioned the emergency light in the desired position.0.5mThere is a round recess on theinside of the mounting bracket.This shows the position of theemergency light.The smoke detector should be mounted on the ceiling, the diagrams above givesguidance on best practice for installation locations.2223

6.2 Fixing with screwsEscape route Hold the mounting bracket in thedesired position ensuring theemergency light is in the correctorientation24 Mark the drill holes Drill the holes and insert the plugs Position the mounting bracket andscrew in place2x “Click” Now twist the smoke detector intothe mounting bracket25

6.3 Fixing with adhesive tapes2x “Click”Escape route Twist the smoke detector into themounting bracketPlease note when firmly pressing the smoke detector with the mountingbracket against the ceiling that inadvertently pressing the operatingbutton will trigger a test alarm.26 Attach the adhesive strip to themounting bracket and peel off thesecond protective film Make sure the emergency light ispointing towards the escape route Now press the smoke detector withmounting bracket attached firmlyagainst the ceiling27

6.4 Functional testWe recommend that you test yoursmoke detector immediately followinginstallation and then again everymonth after. To do so, briefly press the operatingbutton or start a functional test viathe app.The alarm will sound three times,the alarm LED will flash red andthe emergency light will light up.Following a successful test the alarmLED flashes red every 10 secondsfor 10 minutes. During this time theproduct will be muted.If the signals described do not occur,the product is faulty. If this is the case,replace the product.After a functional test or switching off the alarm, smoke detection willbe deactivated for 10 minutes and the product will be muted.28There must be a functioning wireless network and internet connectionin order for warnings to be sent in the event of a potential fire. RobertBosch Smart Home GmbH is not able to offer a guarantee on the time itwill take for this notification to be transmitted.Please note that the emergency services number stored in the app willnot be automatically called if the smoke detector detects smoke.If necessary, you always have to call the emergency services yourself!You need to ensure that your mobile device is on and connected to amobile communications network in order for it to receive warnings andnotifications from the Smart Home Smoke Detector.29

8.0 ALARM AND TROUBLESHOOTING8.1 Switching off the alarm7.0 MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONSWe recommend you inspect and test your smoke detector on a monthlybasis.7.1 Visual inspection The smoke inlet openings along thesides and the sound outlets are notclogged (e.g. by dust, dirt or paint) If necessary, clean the smoke detector carefully with a damp cloth Check for any damage and that thebracket is still firmly fixed in place. Ensure that there is a clear space of0.5 m around your smoke detectorso smoke detection is not hindered(e.g. by furnishing).If you have multiple smoke detectors installed, an alarm can only bemuted on the detector that detected the potential fire. This can beidentified by the red flashing LED. Pressing the operating button onthe triggering device will silence allother alarms at the same time.8.2 Faults and measuresAudible signalThe alarm soundsonce every43 seconds.w30Visual signalThe LED flashesred once every43 seconds.CauseThe batterylevel is low.FixThe battery itselfcannot be replaced,the smoke detectorshould be replaced.31
