The windows willfunction with the RKE transmitterin the vehicle, and children orothers could be caught in the pathof a closing window. Do not leavechildren in a vehicle with an RKEtransmitter.

Never pull the key out withoutpressing the button.See your dealer if a new key isneeded.If locked out of the vehicle, seeRoadside Assistance Program0 329.With an active OnStar or connectedservice plan, an OnStar Advisormay remotely unlock the vehicle.See OnStar Overview 0 339.Remote Keyless Entry(RKE) SystemSee Radio Frequency Statement0 335.The key, inside the Remote KeylessEntry (RKE) transmitter, can beused for all locks.If there is a decrease in the RemoteKeyless Entry (RKE) operatingrange:. Check the distance. Thetransmitter may be too far fromthe vehicle.Check the location. Othervehicles or objects may beblocking the signal.Check the transmitter's battery.See “Battery Replacement” laterin this section.If the transmitter is still notworking correctly, see yourdealer or a qualified technicianfor service.Remote Keyless Entry(RKE) System OperationThe Keyless Access system allowsfor vehicle entry when the RemoteKeyless Entry (RKE) transmitter iswithin 1 m (3 ft). See “KeylessAccess Operation” later in thissection.The RKE transmitter may work up to60 m (197 ft) away outside thevehicle.Other conditions can affect theperformance of the transmitter. SeeRemote Keyless Entry (RKE)System 0 8.

See VehiclePersonalization 0 124. If thepassenger door is open whenpressed, all doors lock.Q isPressing Q may also arm the alarmsystem. See Vehicle Alarm System0 24.start the engine from outside thevehicle using the RKE transmitter.See Remote Vehicle Start 0 16.K : Press to unlock the driver door.Press unlock again withinfive seconds to unlock all doors.The RKE transmitter can beprogrammed to unlock all doors onthe first button press. See VehiclePersonalization 0 124.X : Press twice quickly to releasethe trunk.The turn signal indicators may flashand/or the horn may sound toindicate unlocking. See VehiclePersonalization 0 124.Pressing K will disarm the alarmsystem. See Vehicle Alarm System0 24.If equipped, press and hold K onthe RKE transmitter to open thewindows remotely, if enabled. SeeVehicle Personalization 0 124./ : If equipped, press and releaseQ and then immediately press andhold / for at least four seconds to9M : If equipped, press andrelease K, then immediately pressand hold M continuously to openthe convertible top all the way. Thevehicle must be off to operate theconvertible top with the RKEtransmitter. The top will stopmovement approximatelyone second after M is released.To stop the top immediately, press7, K, or Q on the RKE transmitter.M will only open theconvertible top.The convertible top can also beopened using a button in theoverhead console. See ConvertibleTop 0 34.

The exterior lampsflash and the horn chirps threetimes.Press and hold 7 for at leastthree seconds to sound the panicalarm. The horn sounds and theturn signals flash for 30 seconds,or until 7 is pressed again or theignition is turned on.Convertible Top.Do not try to start the vehiclewhile using the RKE transmitterto open the convertible top.Release M on the RKEtransmitter and ENGINE START/STOP. Wait a few secondsbefore starting the vehiclenormally.The passive door unlock featuremay not operate properly whileusing the RKE transmitter toopen the convertible top.The convertible top can also beopened using a button in theoverhead console. See ConvertibleTop 0 34.Keyless Access OperationThe Keyless Access system letsyou lock and unlock the doors andaccess the trunk without removingthe RKE transmitter from yourpocket, purse, briefcase, etc. TheRKE transmitter should be within1 m (3 ft) of the trunk or door beingopened. There will be buttons onthe outside door handles.Keyless Unlocking/Locking fromthe Driver DoorWhen the doors are locked and theRKE transmitter is within 1 m (3 ft)of the driver door handle, pressingthe lock/unlock button on the driverdoor handle will unlock the driverdoor. If the lock/unlock button ispressed again within five seconds,the passenger door will unlock. Pullthe door handle to unlatch the door.Keyless Access can beprogrammed to unlock all doors onthe first lock/unlock press from thedriver door. Keyless Access canalso be turned Off. See VehiclePersonalization 0 124.If equipped with memory seats, RKEtransmitters 1 and 2 are linked tothe seating positions of memory 1 or2. Chevrolet Camaro Owner Manual (GMNA-Localizing-U.S./Canada/Mexico13556304) - 2020 - CRC - 5/10/19Keys, Doors, and Windows.It has been more thanfive seconds since the first lock/unlock button press.Disable/Enable Keyless Unlockingof Exterior Door Handles andTrunkturn signal lamps will flash twicequickly to indicate access isenabled.Two lock/unlock button presseswere used to unlock all doors.Passive Locking.Any vehicle door has openedand all doors are now closed.If equipped, keyless unlocking of theexterior door handles and trunk canbe disabled and enabled.Keyless Unlocking/Locking fromthe Passenger DoorWhen the doors are locked and theRKE transmitter is within 1 m (3 ft)of the passenger door handle,pressing the lock/unlock button onthe passenger door handle willunlock all doors.Pressing the lock/unlock button willcause all doors to lock if any of thefollowing occur:. The lock/unlock button was usedto unlock all doors. Any vehicle door has openedand all doors are now closed.Disabling Keyless Unlocking:With the vehicle off, press andhold Q and K on the RKEtransmitter at the same time forapproximately three seconds. Theturn signal lamps will flash fourtimes quickly to indicate access isdisabled. Using any exterior handleto unlock the doors or open thetrunk will cause the turn signallamps to flash four times quickly,indicating access is disabled.If disabled, disarm the alarm systembefore starting the vehicle.Enabling Keyless Unlocking:With the vehicle off, press andhold Q and K on the RKEtransmitter at the same time forapproximately three seconds. The11With Keyless Access the vehicle willlock several seconds after all doorsare closed if the vehicle is off and atleast one transmitter has beenremoved or none remain in thevehicle.If other electronic devices interferewith the RKE transmitter signal, thevehicle may not detect the RKEtransmitter inside the vehicle.If passive locking is enabled, thedoors may lock with the RKEtransmitter inside the vehicle. Donot leave the RKE transmitter in anunattended vehicle.To customize the doors toautomatically lock when exiting thevehicle, see “Remote Lock, Unlock,Start” under Vehicle Personalization0 124.

Passivelocking will then remain disableduntil Q on the interior door ispressed, or until the vehicle isturned on.See Vehicle Personalization 0 124.A new transmitter can beprogrammed to the vehicle whenthere are two recognizedtransmitters. To program, the vehiclemust be off and all of thetransmitters, both currentlyrecognized and new, must bewith you.Remote Left In Vehicle AlertWhen the vehicle is turned off andan RKE transmitter is left in thevehicle, the horn will chirp threetimes after all doors are closed. SeeVehicle Personalization 0 124.Remote No Longer In Vehicle AlertIf the vehicle is on with a door open,and then all doors are closed, thevehicle will check for RKEtransmitters inside. If an RKEtransmitter is not detected, theDriver Information Center (DIC) willdisplay NO REMOTE DETECTEDand the horn will chirp three times.Keyless Trunk OpeningWhen the doors are locked, pressthe touch pad to open the trunk ifthe RKE transmitter is within1 m (3 ft).Key AccessTo access a vehicle with a weaktransmitter battery, see Door Locks0 18.Programming Transmitters tothe VehicleOnly RKE transmitters programmedto the vehicle will work. If atransmitter is lost or stolen, areplacement can be purchased andprogrammed through your dealer.The vehicle can be reprogrammedso that lost or stolen transmitters nolonger work. Any remainingtransmitters will need to bereprogrammed. Each vehicle canhave up to eight transmittersmatched to it.1. Remove the key from the RKEtransmitter.2. Place the two recognizedtransmitters in the rearcupholder in the centerconsole.

Remove the key lock cylindercap on the driver door handle.See Door Locks 0 18. Insertthe vehicle key of the newtransmitter into the key lockcylinder on the driver doorhandle and turn the key to theunlock position five times within10 seconds.4. The DIC displays READY FORREMOTE #3, 4 or 5, 6,7, or 8.transmitter in the rearcupholder in the centerconsole.6. Press ENGINE START/STOP.When the transmitter islearned, the DIC will show thatit is ready to program the nexttransmitter.7. Remove the transmitter fromthe cupholder and press Kor Q.Programming without RecognizedTransmittersIf two currently recognizedtransmitters are not available, followthis procedure to program up toeight transmitters. This feature isnot available in Canada. Thisprocedure will take approximately30 minutes to complete. The vehiclemust be off and all of thetransmitters to be programmed mustbe with you.To program additionaltransmitters, repeat Steps 3–5.1. Remove the key from the RKEtransmitter.When all additional transmittersare programmed, press andhold ENGINE START/STOP for12 seconds to exitprogramming mode.2. Remove the key lock cylindercap on the driver door handle.See Door Locks 0 18. Insertthe vehicle key of thetransmitter into the key lockcylinder on the driver doorhandle and turn the key to theunlock position five times within10 seconds.8. Put the key back into thetransmitter.5. Replace the recognizedtransmitters with a newtransmitter. Place the new139.
