The program produces aseason of 2-3 shows each year, including serious and comedicdramas, musical theater, theater for young audiences, and anoriginal one-act festival. A full range of courses are offeredallowing the student to gain a broad-based background in allaspects of theater along with intensive training for the actor,director, designer and playwright.Course offerings are designed to serve three student groupings:theater students planning to transfer to a four-year institution;students seeking fulfillment of general education requirementsfor a degree program; and students wishing to broaden theirvision as artists in an intensive acting training program to helpprepare for a career as an actor in theater, film and television.Distinctive FeaturesDepartmental productions are integrated into all course studiesand are used as practical examples of the theory and practicecovered in each course. The program is performance orientedwith many opportunities for students and community membersto participate in public performances of shows. Our theater foryoung audiences program, for example, generally performs eachyear for over 7,000 audience members.
