General marking guidance All candidates must receive the same treatment. Examiners must mark the lastcandidate in exactly the same way as they mark the first. Mark schemes should be applied positively. Candidates must be rewarded for whatthey have shown they can do rather than be penalised for omissions. Examiners should mark according to the mark scheme – not according to theirperception of where the grade boundaries may lie. All the marks on the mark scheme are designed to be awarded. Examiners shouldalways award full marks if deserved, i.e. if the answer matches the mark scheme.Examiners should also be prepared to award zero marks if the candidate’s response isnot worthy of credit according to the mark scheme. Where some judgement is required, mark schemes will provide the principles bywhich marks will be awarded and exemplification/indicative content will not beexhaustive. When examiners are in doubt regarding the application of the mark scheme to acandidate’s response, a senior examiner must be consulted before a mark is given. Passage 4 (b)Les maquisF1 Les premiers maquis apparaissent dès décembre 1942, de manière indépendante,des mouvements de la Résistance. Ils sont composés de ceux qui veulentéchapper à la mobilisation de la main-d’œuvre et qui ne veulent pas aller travailleren Allemagne. En février 1943, l’instauration du Service du Travail Obligatoire(STO), leur donne une accélération décisive, principalement dans les massifsmontagneux mais aussi dans certaines zones forestières. Leur intégration à laRésistance est progressive: il faut les encadrer, les prendre en charge, les armersans perdre le soutien des populations.M1 Début 1944, les maquis voient leurs effectifs diminuer. La répression conjointede Vichy et des Allemands a été brutale, et l’hiver rigoureux suscite une fortedétérioration des conditions de vie. Cependant, à partir d’avril 1944, un nouveausouffle anime les maquis qui se renforcent lorsque l’espoir du débarquementreprend corps.
