The product shall not beexposed to dripping or splashing, and objects filled withliquids, such as vases, shall not be placed on or near theproduct. As with any electronic products, use care not tospill liquids into any part of the product. Liquids can causea failure and/or a fire hazard.2 The power supply must be used indoors only. It is neitherdesigned nor tested for use outdoors, in recreationvehicles, or on boats. Overcharging may cause the battery tobecome hot, rupture, or ignite. If you see any heat deformation or leakage, properly dispose of the battery. Do not attempt to charge the battery in temperaturesoutside the range of 32 -104 F (0 -40 C). Keep batteries out of the reach of children and pets. If the battery begins to leak, do not allow the liquid tocome in contact with your skin or eyes. If contact has beenmade, wash the affected area with plenty of water andseek medical advice immediately.

Swing the cover down and under the unit.When closed, the cover protects theSoundLink Wireless Mobile speaker fromdamage. When opened, the cover serves asa stand for the speaker. No sound is emittedfrom the speaker unless the cover is opened.To open the cover1. Pull on the fabric tab imprinted with theBose logo.When you close the cover, magnets hold it inplace. When moving the speaker aroundwithin a room or from room to room, keep thefollowing guidelines in mind: The speaker is designed to sound bestwhen placed on a shelf, counter, desk, ortabletop that is 24 to 48 inches high. For best bass response, the speaker shouldbe placed near a wall; bass responsedecreases as the speaker is placed closerto the center of a room. When operating the speaker, always use thecover as a stand. Do not lay the speaker onits back. Sound is emitted from both thefront and rear of the unit.10 The speaker should not be placed in smallareas that are enclosed on all sides exceptthe front, as this will adversely affect soundquality. Do not place the speaker on wet or dirtysurfaces. Doing so could transfer dirt, sand,or moisture onto the speaker when thecover is closed.If you are using your speaker outdoors, youshould expect the tonal quality to change asyou move farther from the speaker.

The indicatorflashes twice when maximum orminimum volume is reached.Pairing with Bluetooth devicesPairing occurs when two Bluetooth devicescommunicate with each other and establish aconnection. A record of information about thisconnection is then stored in the memory ofeach device. Once you pair a device with theSoundLink speaker, you should not have topair it again.The SoundLink speaker can pair with up tosix Bluetooth devices. However, it can onlyconnect to, and play audio from one device ata time.To begin pairing with a Bluetooth device1. With the Bluetooth device and theSoundLink speaker both turned on,press and hold the Bluetooth button onthe speaker for three seconds to make thespeaker discoverable.15

Set your Bluetooth device to “discover”the SoundLink speaker, then locate theBluetooth device list.3. From the Bluetooth device list, select thedevice named “Bose SoundLink.”4. If your device asks for a passkey, enterdigits 0000 (four zeros) and press OK.Some devices also ask you to acceptthe connection.Your Bluetooth device indicates whenpairing is complete. The SoundLink speaker speaker indicates pairing iscomplete when the Bluetooth indicatorstops fading on and off and remainssteadily on.16To connect a deviceTo connect a previously paired device, pressthe Bluetooth button on the SoundLink speaker. The Bluetooth indicator on thespeaker flashes on and off approximatelytwice every second until the device connects.Then the indicator stops flashing and remainssteadily on when the speaker and devicehave successfully connected.To pair additional devicesWith the Bluetooth device and theSoundLink speaker both turned on, pressthe Bluetooth button on the speaker for threeseconds to make the speaker discoverableagain. You can pair more than sixdevices, but the memory will never containmore than six. When the memory is full withsix devices and an additional device is paired,the least recently used device is deleted frommemory and replaced by the newly paireddevice.Clearing memoryTo clear the SoundLink speaker memory ofall devices, press and hold the Bluetooth button on the speaker (about 10 seconds)until you hear a tone.The SoundLink speaker clears all Bluetoothdevices from its memory and then becomesdiscoverable.17

This requires using anaudio cable with a 3.5 mm plug on one endto connect with the AUX input on theSoundLink system. A cable with a 3.5 mmplug on both ends is provided.To add a source1. Plug the cable from the audio device intothe(AUX) connector on the back of theSoundLink speaker.2. Press the AUX button.If a device is connected but not playing audio,the speaker will turn itself off after 30 minutes.3. Adjust the volume on the connecteddevice to near maximum, then use theSoundLink speaker volume buttons toadjust the level.Service connectorThe service connector on the rear of thespeaker is for software updates only and willnot play audio from any connected device.18

To check the chargelevel, press and hold the power button andobserve the battery indicator.Green: .70% or more of full chargeYellow: .20% to 70% of full chargeRed: .20% or less (charge needed)Battery protection modeWhen the SoundLink speaker is unpluggedand unused for more than 14 days, it entersbattery protection mode to preserve batterypower. To reactivate the speaker, connect itto AC (mains) power (see “Charging theBattery,” below). You can immediately use thesystem while the battery charges.Charging the batteryThe battery status indicator on the SoundLink speaker flashes red when the battery needscharging. The battery can be charged whetherthe cover is opened or closed.To charge the batteryPlug the power cable into the DC POWERconnector on the back panel of theSoundLink speaker. Press and hold the Bluetooth button(three seconds) until the Bluetooth indicator slowly flashes. Make sure the Bluetooth capability of your Bluetooth device is turned on. Your Bluetooth device may be out of range – try moving it closer to the SoundLink speaker. Make sure your Bluetooth device supports the transfer of audio. Move your Bluetooth device and/or SoundLink speaker away from other devices thatgenerate electromagnetic interference.
