In the Find Window, type in your machine manufacturer to show the hoops for your machine.3. Click OK.4. To deselect a hoop, click back on the hoop icon again and the hoop will no longer appear. A hoop isnot necessary to design, however, it is always best to digitize in the size that you plan on embroideringthe design. Click on the Digitizing icon. This is where you customize your drawing tools and set thedefault angles. When you are more advanced with your digitizing and want to control angles andentry/exit points, you can apply the advanced settings. For now I would leave all these options atthe defaults.11. Click on the View icon. These items personalize the way you view your software.

Navigate to the folder where your design is located.3. Double click on the folder (or click on it and then click Open) and then double click on the design(or click on it and then click Open).4. To add a design to the current one on the screen, click on the File pull down menu and then chooseMerge.5. Navigate to the folder where the design is located and double click on it.6. It will be on the page on top of the other design.Note: If you are making changes to a design, it is best to Select a New Page and Merge the design(s)This keeps you from accidentally saving over the original file.

Save the design as a C2S file to begin with, this will allow you to return to the file and edit it at a laterdate in the native format.3. Click on the File pull down menu and choose Click2Stitch.4. Choose the type of fabric from the pull down menu.5. Choose whether you plan on hooping the fabric or not. (The selections available are based on thefabric selected.)6. Click NEXT.7. Click NEXT again to apply the settings.

When you look on the screen, where the properties window is normally located, the stabilizer informationwill be in the window.Entering basic text1. Click on the New Page icon.2. Click on the Text tool.3. Click on the design page to activate the tool.4. If you have enabled onscreen typing, a blinking cursor will appear and you may type directly on thescreen and then left click away from the text.5. If you did not enable an A will appear on the screen. In the Properties window, you will need to highlightthe A and type in your new text and then click Apply.

The up and down arrow keys on your keyboard will let you scroll through the fonts and see a previewof them in the Preview window. Once you find a font, press Enter on the keyboard and then clickApply in the Properties window. Note, you may change the style of text after you type and before youclick Apply if you prefer.8. You can also click on the font preview to see all the fonts at one time. Once you find the font that youlike, click OK and the font will change.9. To change the text to a circular path, in the Properties window, click on the type pull down menu andchoose Circle and then click Apply.

These are digitized for 3-6mm (.12-.24 in) lettering.They work the same as other letters, but you don’t change any of the stitch properties. Use 60wt threadand a small needle to embroider for perfection.Text Designs1. Click on the Text Designs icon. Do not click on the down arrow.

In the Properties window, click on the Transform tab.5. Change the Height of the design to 2 in and click Apply.6. Click on the Circle Template tool. Do not click on the down arrow next to it at this time, thereare other options under the tool.7. This will arrange the design around a circle and can create fun frames for text.8. Change the Width of the circle to 150mm, change the angle of the Individual Path Settings to 270(degree of rotation), place a checkmark in front of Auto resequence by color (this color sorts) andthen click Apply.9. Click OK.10. Click on the Hoop icon and choose the Brother 200 x200 mm hoopor a 200 mm and widerhoop for your brand of machine and then click OK. Notice that the design is a little too large for the hoop.

Click on the New page icon.2. Turn off the hoop by clicking on the hoop icon3. Click on the Monogram tool.4. Click on the Design page to activate the tool. If you have onscreen typing active, you may typedirectly on the screen and then left click away from the text, if not, type in your three letter monogramin the Properties window, in the Text box and then click Apply.5. The last font style that you used will be applied to the monogram. If you are following the lessons inorder, that will be a micro font.6. In the Properties window, click on the Font pull down menu and locate a font for your monogram.Fonts with a green Min front of them are fonts made for monogramming and have decorationsthat may be added to them. For this exercise, choose.7. The Décor box beneath the fonts will become active when afont is selected.8. Click on the down arrow next to it to see the available decors for that font. Different fonts will havedifferent decors.

The décor will not beavailable. However, there are Monogram designs we can add instead. From the Font pull downmenu, choose another font this time without the. For this exercise, select Monogram and thenclick apply.11. Click on the Monogram designs icon. and then choose Monogram Designs.12. Scroll through the monogram designs and then double click on one to insert it onto the design page.

The monogram is a little large for the design and needs to be resized. Click off the design and thenback on the lettering. In the properties window, change the height of the lettering to 1.0 and thenclick Apply.15. Select all again and then click the Center Align icon.16. There are also fonts with decorations built around them. These are perfect for single initials.Click on the New page icon.17. Click on the Monogram tool and then click on the design page to activate the tool.18. Type in a single letter monogram in the Properties window.19. From the Font pull down menu, choose a font with the word Mono and a number behind it and leftmouse click.20. Click Apply.Mono27

Double click on a shape (or click on it and then click OK). It will appear on the design page as anapplique ready to embroider.4. Click on the New page icon.5. If you want to create an applique that is not in the Applique shapes list, you may either draw it withthe drawing tools, or use one of the motif shapes. Click on the Text designs down arrowand then choose Motif Shapes.

Applique lettering may be accomplished with TTfonts.2. Click on the New page icon3. Click on the Text tool.4. Click on the design page to activate the tool.

From the File pull down menu, choose Import TT Text.2. In the Text box, type in the desired text.Type text here3. Click on the Browse button next to the current font style.Click here toBrowse fonts4. Select a font from the pull down menu and then click OK.5. Click OK again. The lettering will appear on the screen as artwork.6. Pull it from one of the corners to resize the lettering. (Bigger is better with Applique Lettering.)

Click on the Browse buttonto browse for an image file.3. In the Look in drop down menu, click on C:\Dime\Images\Bitmaps. For this exercise, change the filetype to jpeg. You can use other file types, this is just the image we selected.4. Select butterfly 7.jpg and then click Open.5. Change the output to artwork and then click NEXT. This changes the scanned artwork into acomputer generated artwork file.6. Choose the size for your design. For this exercise, you may leave it at the default and click NEXT.7. If you need to edit the image, click on the Edit tab this will open up the image in MS Paint. This imagedoesn’t need editing, so click Finish.8. You now have artwork to change into stitches.

The entire design will have embroidery stitches and all areas will be considereda fill stitch.10. If you want to change stitch types, in the sequence view, expand the color you with to adjust.For this exercise, click on the black segment.11. To change all the black colors from a complex fill to a satin fill, stitch, click on the segment in theSequence window and then in the Properties window, select Satin and click Apply.12. That technique works well with everything except the outline. In the sequence window, click on theplus sign next to the black color. The first segment is the outline stitch currently. Right mouse clickon that segment and choose Convert to Satin. This will turn it into an outline than a fill area.13. Drag that segment to embroider last in the Sequence window.14. To get a smoother outline, right mouse click and choose Simplify. This removes some of the editingpoints and will smooth out the line.15. To change the direction, in the sequence window, click on the plus sign next to the color that youwant to change, click on the segment and then.16. Click on the Shape tooland then look in the design window.17. The yellow line with black dots on each end is the angle line. Drag one of the points to another locationand then click outside the area. The angle will be changed.18. When you have completed the design, go to the File pull down menu, and choose Save as,Save the design in the C2S format for editing later.19. Go to the File pull down menu again, and choose Click2Stitch.20. This brings up the recipes for fabric.

Choose the type fabric you are embroidering, for this design, choose Woven Med, Smooth chooseSolid, Dense, Outlines since it has a fill and an outline. (Note: the options available will depend onthe fabric selected.) The shape of the design should be Closed, and choose to hoop the fabric.Click Next.22. Click Apply to apply the new settings and then click Next after the warning message.23. Read the Recipe information and then click Finished. Name the design and click Save.Save in the C2S format to come back to edit.24. From the file pull down menu, choose Save as and save the design in your machine format.Digitizing with the Backdrop tool1. Click New Page.2. Click on the load backdrop tool.3. Select the butterfly jpg in the Dime image files and then click OK.4. In the Properties window, change the height to 3in and click Apply. The width will automatically adjust.

In the Properties window, place a checkmark in front of Fill and then click Apply.8. Right mouse click on a color tile for the outer area of the butterfly wing.9. Left mouse click on all the wing sections.10. Choose a color for the green and left mouse click on the green areas.11. Continue in this manner for all the colors.12. Turn off the backdrop toolto see if all the colors are there. If you missed any, make note ofthem, turn the backdrop tool backon and create those artwork segments.13. Click on the Select tool and choose Select All.

If there are areas that you would rather be a Satin, you can then individual select them and changethem to a different style. You can also change the directions of the fill areas individually.16. Click the plus sign next to the color segment you wish to adjust in the Sequence window.17. Click on the individual part to see select that segment. Below, the first segment of green is selected.18. Click on the Shape tool. Points will appear around the area. The blue squares adjust theshape, the red and green circles adjust the entry and exit point (green enter, red exit) and the blackcircles are the direction line end points.

Right mouseclick away from the design and the direction change will be applied. Make the direction changes tothe areas that you wish to change.20. Click on the 3d iconto see the realistic view of the stitches.21. If you wish to change the type of stitch for an area, select the area in the Sequence window.Right mouse click on the design and choose Convert to and then select the stitch type. For thisexercise, select the black outline.22. Right mouse click and choose Convert to and then choose Satin. This will change the stitch to followthe curve more like an outline stitch.23. When you have finished the design, from the File pull down menu choose Save As. Save it first inthe C2S format and then in your machine format.24. From the File Pull down menu, choose Click2Stitch.
