Learn more about Malden and our work in the communityMalden is a Gateway Community; which is a regionthat has historically been home to immigrants andworking class residents. Malden continues to growin ethnic, racial and linguistic diversity with manypeople emigrating from Asia, Africa, South &Central America and the Caribbean. Over half ofthe Malden population speaks a language otherthan English at home. Other common languagesspoken include, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish,Haitian Creole, Vietnamese & Arabic. For moreinformation regarding the Malden Population andthe Social Influences of Health in Malden pleasesee belowThe Community Medicine curriculum at Tufts UniversityFamily Medicine Residency will provide residentphysicians with an understanding of the social, economic,and cultural contexts of health and an appreciation of thepublic health perspective on community well-being. Thesecond year Community Medicine program includes a mixof didactic curriculum sessions as well as scheduled timefor meetings with a community agency partner.Didactic sessions focus on local public health statistics,social determinants of health and disease and theelements of a community health needs assessment.
