You can improve yourQuality of life IMPROVE YOUR APPEARANCEBicon dental implants can offer you the smile you have lost, or thesmile you have always wanted. You may no longer be embarrassedin conversation or while smiling and laughing. EAT THE FOODS YOU ENJOYWith Bicon implants, you can eat lettuce, apples, steak, and evencorn on the cob with confidence. INVEST IN A PERMANENT SOLUTIONOnly a dental implant can permanently replace the root of amissing tooth. If a root is not replaced, bone loss will occurresulting in undesirable consequences such as the inability toplace implants without bone grafting procedures. Bicon implantscan eliminate the need for sticky denture adhesives, and even theneed for dentures entirely. AVOID COMPROMISING YOUR HEALTHY TEETHUnlike traditional bridge restoration techniques, Bicon implantseliminate the need for cutting down two healthy natural teeth toreplace one missing tooth. ALTERNATIVES CAN OFTEN FAILTraditional crowns, bridges, and root canals often fail —necessitating additional dental care. Dental implants can offer apermanent solution, that will not decay.www.bicon.com4

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONSWhat is a dental implant? The Bicon dental implant serves as thereplacement for the root portion of a missingnatural tooth. It is machined from surgicalgrade titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-4V) to exactingspecifications. A dentist places the implant intoeither the upper or lower jawbone. After a periodof two to four months of healing, the implantintegrates with the bone and becomes a secureanchor for a replacement tooth, or a fixed orremovable prosthesis.Am I a candidate for a dental implant? If you are missing one or more teeth, then youare a candidate for a dental implant. Dentalimplants will allow you to smile, speak, and eatwith confidence and comfort. Can a Bicon implant be used as an alternative toroot canal treatment?YES! Not all teeth are good candidates forroot canal treatment. Root-canal-treated teethare susceptible to decay and fracture, whileimplants cannot decay and almost never break.Bicon implants are an excellent and prudentalternative to the root canal, post and core, crown lengthening, and crowning procedures.Often, the cost of saving a tooth with a variety oftreatments can exceed the cost of the placementand restoration of a Bicon implant. Is the implant ever rejected by the body? The implant is machined from surgicalgrade titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-4V), which is abiocompatible material. However, there is aslight possibility that it will not integrate withbone. If this were to occur, the implant would bereplaced with another one. It is highly unlikelythat the second implant would not integrate. What if I smoke?Smoking can inhibit proper healing of animplant. However, this does not preventsmokers from having implants successfullyplaced and restored. You should speak with yourdentist for more specific information relating toyour dental needs and the effects of smoking.9How much discomfort will I experience?Minimal to none. While undergoing treatment, you will receive local anesthesia. (Someclinicians may choose to use other forms ofanesthesia.) You may have mild post-surgicalsoreness for up to 72 hours. An over-the-counterpain reliever will alleviate the discomfort formost patients. What will the appearance of my mouth look likeduring my treatment?During treatment, your dentist will often beable to provide you with a temporary prosthesisthat will have the look and feel that you needduring this period of healing. With the Biconimplant, it is often possible to have a fixedtransitional tooth immediately after theplacement of the implant. How much time is required to have an implantprocedure?A single dental implant placement is usuallycompleted in less than an hour as an officeprocedure with local anesthesia. The implantis then allowed to heal with the bone for aminimum of eight weeks. If you have poorquality bone and bone-grafting procedures arenecessary, the overall process can take up to 9months or more. Your dentist will determinewhich surgical procedure is best for you.How do I properly maintain the implant oncetreatment is completed?Simply brush and floss it as though it were anatural tooth.

What is a bone graft?A bone graft is a surgical procedure for addingheight or width to a jawbone in order to increaseits volume for the placement of an implant. What is a sinus floor bone augmentation? When an upper posterior tooth is lost, the floorof the maxillary sinus drops down into thespace formerly occupied by the root of the losttooth. In order to place an implant, it is oftennecessary to put the sinus floor back up towhere it originally was by adding pure phaseBeta-Tricalcium Phosphate, a synthetic bonesubstitute material. This procedure is called asinus floor bone augmentation or it may also becalled a sinus lift. What is a ridge split? After the loss of a tooth, the bone formerlyaround the tooth resorbs, often leaving a verynarrow ridge of bone. In order to place animplant, the ridge of bone is split as thoughit were a piece of corrugated cardboard beingexpanded to provide a wider space between eachside. For the upper jaw, this is accomplishedat the same time that the implant is placed;however, for the lower jaw, it may require asecond surgical visit three weeks later just priorto placement of the implant.“As a dental lab technician who has workedwith many different implant systems, itmade sense to me to replace my lost toothwith a Bicon dental implant. The procedurewas done quickly with minimal discomfort, and without changing my daily routine.”— J. Contreras“I had the first of my eleven Bicon implantsbefore any of my friends had ever heard ofimplants. If it were not for implants, I wouldhave false teeth. The procedure is quick andrelatively painless and no one has any ideathat the teeth are not my own. Many of myimplants replaced teeth that had alreadyhad a root canal. I would never have anotherroot canal!”— G. SteinHow much will it cost and does insurance coverimplant treatment?Costs may vary depending upon your individualtreatment plan. Many insurances reimburse fordental implants; however, we recommend thatyou verify with your insurance about coverageand limitations. Detailed questions aboutyour individual needs and how they relate toinsurance should be discussed with your dentistand insurance provider. How can I learn more about BiconDental Implants? Please visit www.bicon.com.www.bicon.com10
