Let me startby congratulating all the players from both teams who made their appearance at this uniqueevent over the past decade. I would especially like to thank our students for the excellentresults achieved so far. Furthermore, let me express my gratitude to all the people involvedin the organization of the long-distance chess match, from both Dallas and Serbia, who madethe duels between our chess teams over the internet traditional.Since 2012, the duel carries the name of the world-famous chess grandmaster and chesslegend Svetozar Gligoric, and we are grateful to our colleagues from Dallas for havingaccepted this. In previous matches our University has shown itself as an outstandingopponent, so all the matches had very thrilling endings. The University of Belgrade is proud tohave such excellent chess players among its students and alumni.After 11 matches played so far, the current result is 5:6. Taking into consideration the teamsannounced, this match will be the most challenging so far and a very close duel is expected.Nonetheless, the University of Belgrade does expect to win the Trophy in this year’s match.At our university, the match is traditionally played at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering,where we also cordially invite distinguished persons from our country to be honorableguests.
