The C50L HuckBolt Fastening SystemStrong and dependable lockbolts for heavy-duty,vibration-intensive applications.

Grade 5 fasteners certified to meet or exceedall ASTM A-325 standards. For applications ranging fromrailcar to mining equipmentmanufacturing, C50L HuckBolt fasteners from Alcoa FasteningSystems offers superior vibrationresistance and overall durability.Heavy-duty applications demandtough, reliable fasteners. Andextensive testing has demonstratedthat C50L HuckBolt fasteners meetor exceed the performance oftorqued bolts in both shear andtensile strength (with a longerfatigue life). Value is built in, too.Over the lifetime of your product, the investment you make in thequality of C50L HuckBolt fastenerswill pay for itself. While a single nutand bolt may cost less than a C50Lfastener, you won’t find a moreaccurate installation today or a morereliable joint long term.calibrating, maintaining, andreplacing tools are eliminated. Andunlike welding, installation of theC50L does not require expensive, highly experienced workers. In addition, the C50L HuckBoltfastening system is worker-friendly.It’s engineered to be installedwithout torquing or multipleimpacts. Noise level is significantlyreduced. And your installation areabecomes quieter, less stressful, andmore productive. Because thefasteners install without impact, heat, or fumes, you’ll enjoy a safer, cleaner work environment. Andultimately, increase productivity anddecrease costly employee turnover.Successful, consistent installationsUnlike threaded fasteners, theC50L HuckBolt fastener gives youconsistent installation results withvirtually no rework. High costs of1The pin is inserted into the preparedhole and the smooth bore collar isplaced on the pin

C50L HuckBolt Swaged-on collar forms a permanent, vibration-proof connectionInitial long length of fastener enables pull-out of large gapsRepeatable pre-load remains the same every time2The installation tool is applied to the pintail. When the tool is activated, the jaws in thenose assembly pull on the pintail and thenose anvil pushes on the collar to removeany gap.3The nose anvil starts to swage the collarinto the lockgrooves on the pin. Continuedswaging causes the collar to lengthen anddevelop clamp.4When swaging of the collar into the lockgrooves is complete, the pintail separates fromthe pin which completes the installation cycle.

C50L Huckbolt Inspection DataA properly installed C50L fastener will incorporate the dimensional characteristics tabulated below. Should the dimensions ‘A’ or ‘B’ exceed the indicatedvalues, the fastener is being used out-of-grip. A ‘C’ dimension less than the values specified is an indication of incomplete swage. A ‘D’ dimension exceeding the tabulated values is an indication of an incorrect or worn anvil on the installation tool. The ‘A’ dimension can be increased to 1/8 and still meet allpublished values, provided there is no requirement to meet ASTM specifications pertaining to locking grooves (threads) in the shear plane.Dia.PinPart No.CollarType LC*CollarType 3LC*1/2C50L( )-( )16LC-2R16G5/8C50L( )-( )203/4C50L( )-( )247/8C50L( )-( )28CollarType2LRA maxB maxC -2R28G1/163/83/41.282DD max.733BACLC collar* Manufacturer's Option: 'G' or 'GA', unless specified3LC flanged collarsHole DataDia.Maximum Hole1/29/165/811/163/413/167/815/16Ordering InformationC50L PinsFollow the form below to construct a part number for ordering C50L pins. HuckLok For the Long Haul The Benefits of Huck Fastening SystemsHuck fastening systems deliver a number of important benefits, making them the worldwide leader. Easy to use – consistent accuracy with little operatortraining required High productivity – reducing installation time by 25% to 50% Reduced QC procedures – a visual inspection is sufficient to verifya correct installation High clamp performance – typically much higher than withconventional fasteners Durability – extremely high clamp force retention, with 10%to 20% greater fatigue life than conventional threaded fastenersAlcoa Fastening Systems Commercial Products: A Global OrganizationAlcoa Fastening Systems (AFS) maintains company officesin the United States and Canada, with offices in many othercountries.
