RUN WITHSUPPORTTECH TIPSMERITOR CS9 TRAILER PIVOT BUSH REPLACEMENTDismantle the tooling andremove the pivot bush fromthe funnel “D” (Fig 4.32)and remove any debris thatmay be left from the trailingarm outer tube.4. Insert inner sleeve “E” into the pivot bush centraltube.5. Press the Rear Bush Tool (RBT) “F” against thetrailing arm outer tube and insert the threaded bar “G”.Fit washer “H” and nut “A” to draw bar and secure toRBT “F”.6. Push funnel “D” onto the trailing arm outer tube opposite the RBT “F” (Recess facing towards outer tube).Attach the FBT “C” to the funnel “D” and secure in placewith the bearing cups, bearing race “B” and nut “A”.1. Apply P-80 gel solution around the pivot bush (Fig 4.33),funnel “D” (Fig 4.34) and trailing arm outer tube (Fig 4.35).2. Insert the replacement pivotbush into the funnel “D” andalign the pips on the pivot bushwith the marked line on thefunnel (Fig 4.36)3. Fit bush tool to trailing armas shown (Fig 4.37).7. Rotate the funnel “D” so that the mark is aligned tothe mark on the trailing arm (Fig 4.38)8. Apply turning moment to the nut “A” at the bearing“B” end, continue turning the nut until the pivot bush isdrawn completely into the trailing arm outer tube. Theturning action will lock out when the pivot bush matesup with the RBT ”F”.9. Back off the nut and dismantle the pivot bush tooling. Check for any damage to the membrane of the pivotbush.

RUN WITHSUPPORTTECH TIPSMERITOR CS9 TRAILER PIVOT BUSH REPLACEMENT10. Insert steel inner sleeve“X” into the pivot bush centraltube. Fit the replacement wearwashers “Y” to either side ofthe pivot bush (Fig 4.39).11. Refit the trailing arm to thehanger bracket (Fig 4.40) andinsert new pivot bolts.Do not torque the pivot nuts to final torque until the axleis aligned and the trailer is at the ride height with thewheels on. See Axle Alignment - Section 6 and refer tothe Ride Height Adjustment details - Section 3.12. Refit the shock absorber. Do not torque the Shockabsorber nuts to final torque until the axle is aligned andthe trailer is at the ride height with the wheels on. SeeAxle Alignment Section 6 and refer to the Ride HeightAdjustment details - Section 3.13. Refit the wheel (s), where applicable, pressurise theair springs and set ride height.14.
