Nora School Summer Science InstructionsElectronic spreadsheets are the basic tool of data analysis, and as such are used in scientific reports, math, andresearch papers where data needs to be manipulated and studied. You will be using spreadsheets widely inscience lab reports, in financial analysis, and in math classes. To prepare you for this you will spend some timeplaying around with creating your own spreadsheet this summer.Google Sheets gle-sheets-tutorial/Excel basics tutorialhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v NzwQ BbD2G4Nora spreadsheet seminar reviewhttp://bit.ly/NoraSpreadsheetsPlease note that there are few differences between Excel, Google Sheets, and other spreadsheet programs interms of underlying concepts, though menus and tools may be located in different places.AssignmentCreate a simple spreadsheet using columns and rows to create sums and other formulas. For example, the topiccan be the number of days you worked at a summer job or did community service, the number of books youread over the summer, the number of times you exercised, the number of calories you consumed each day, thenumber of days you ate ice cream, or whatever you like. Begin this early in the summer in order to get enoughdata.Use Google Spreadsheets, Excel, or another spreadsheet program. If you get stuck, look at the tutorials aboveor search for “how to create a basic spreadsheet” in your Search bar. This is your first homework assignment in science. You’ll show your work with working formulas using yourlaptop or, will have shared it with dave@nora-school.org by the first day of school. The formulas must be inworking order so that if you change a cell of data the formula will create a different answer. The spreadsheetshould be formatted so that it’s easy to understand with a title and well-defined rows and columns.Rising Freshmen: 4 Columns and 10 Rows (minimum)-Include a Top Row that has a Title of the Spreadsheet, and your name and date-Include a Bottom Row that has the following Formula (at minimum): Total Sum: ie, 'Total number of days Iwalked the dog this summer'. Must be in Formula format.Rising Sophomores: 4 Columns and 10 Rows (minimum)-Include a Top Row that has a Title of the Spreadsheet, and your name-Include a Bottom Row that has the following Formula (at minimum): Must be in Formula format-Total Sum of 'Times Performed'-Total 'Amount of Money made' (or could have made if you added a dollar amount to the task) (this will be asum multiplied by a cell)Rising Juniors and Seniors: 4 Columns and 10 Rows (minimum)-Same as above-Add 1-2 additional formulas for “what if” questions. (ie if I worked more days, how much more money wouldI have made?)

-Add a Graph (Bar, Pie, or style of your choice), to include title and information of your data, explaining bothvertical and horizontal axis.-Add a short "Conclusion Paragraph" explaining a description of the overall analysis including explaining howyou listed the data, created the formulas and how the graph displays your overall analysis.Estimated time: 2-3 hours to create the spreadsheet, 1/2 hour per week adding data, and for rising juniors andseniors, an additional 1-2 hours creating graphs and writing the paragraph.
