About FlashGrid for Oracle on RAC AWSEnsuring high availability of backend relational databases is a critical part of the cloud strategy - whether it is a lift-and-shift migration or a green-field deployment of mission critical applications. FlashGrid is anengineered cloud system designed for database high availability. FlashGrid is delivered as a fully integrated Infrastructure-as-Code template that can be customized and deployed on AWS with a few mouseclicks. Key components of FlashGrid for Oracle RAC on AWS include: AWS EC2 instancesAWS EBS and/or local SSD storageFlashGrid Storage Fabric softwareFlashGrid Cloud Area Network softwareOracle Grid Infrastructure softwareOracle RAC database engineBy leveraging the proven Oracle RAC database engine FlashGrid enables the following use-cases: Lift-and-shift migration of existing Oracle RAC databases to AWS.Migration of existing Oracle databases from high-end on-premises servers to AWS without reducing availability SLAs.Design of new mission critical applications for the cloud based on the industry proven and widely supported database engine.About This DemoThis brief shows the main steps of deploying FlashGrid for Oracle RAC on AWS. The target audience is AWS cloud architects and engineers and database architects and administrators.More detailed information is available in the following documents: White paper: Oracle RAC on Amazon EC2 enabled by FlashGrid engineered cloud system.Deployment Guide 2021 FlashGrid Inc.2www.flashgrid.io

Step 0: Select one of standard configuration templatesSince majority of deployments have 2 or 3 RAC nodes, these two standard configuration are readily available when you click Launch at acle-rac-on-aws/Click on a button that corresponds to either 2, or 3 RAC nodes. It will open FlashGrid Launcher tool. (For configurations other than 2 or 3 RAC nodes contact FlashGrid support.) 2021 FlashGrid Inc.3www.flashgrid.io

Step 1: Enter basic information about the clusterAt this step you need to enter information such as AWS Region and preferred time zone. 2021 FlashGrid Inc.4www.flashgrid.io

Step 2: Select OSSelect which operating system you prefer – Oracle Linux 7 or RHEL 7 2021 FlashGrid Inc.5www.flashgrid.io

Step 3: Select database versionSelect which version of the database you are planning to use, along with Patch Set Update / Release Update version for it. 2021 FlashGrid Inc.6www.flashgrid.io

Step 4: Provide location of Oracle installation filesYou need to upload the listed Oracle installation files to an S3 bucket and provide name of the bucket. Cluster initialization script will download and install the files. 2021 FlashGrid Inc.7www.flashgrid.io

Step 5: Configure cluster nodesProvide hostnames, Availability Zone placement, and sizes of the cluster nodes. 2021 FlashGrid Inc.8www.flashgrid.io

Step 6: Configure storageSpecify ASM disk groups that will be created. The corresponding disks will be automatically attached to the nodes. 2021 FlashGrid Inc.9www.flashgrid.io

Step 7: Specify memory allocationIf needed, customize database memory allocation percentages. These percentages area used for automatic configuration of HugePages when database node boots up based on the total memory. 2021 FlashGrid Inc.10www.flashgrid.io

Step 8: Specify listener portsIf needed, customize SCAN and Local listener port numbers. 2021 FlashGrid Inc.11www.flashgrid.io

Step 9: Provide information about target VPCProvide information about the VPC network where you want the cluster deployed. 2021 FlashGrid Inc.12www.flashgrid.io

Step 10: Configure DNSSpecify domain name that will be assigned to cluster nodes. You can also replace the default Route53 DNS server with your own list of DNS servers. 2021 FlashGrid Inc.13www.flashgrid.io

Step 11: Configure email alertsSpecify list of emails where alerts will be sent for errors that may happen during operation of the cluster. 2021 FlashGrid Inc.14www.flashgrid.io

Step 12: Specify tagsOptionally, specify the list of tags that will be assigned to the EC2 instances and disks. 2021 FlashGrid Inc.15www.flashgrid.io

Step 13: Provide registration information 2021 FlashGrid Inc.16www.flashgrid.io

Step 14: Validate configurationClick Validate to confirm that the provided configuration is consistent. 2021 FlashGrid Inc.17www.flashgrid.io

Step 15: Generate CloudFormation templateWhen you click Launch FlashGrid Cloud Cluster, a CloudFormation template will be generated and CloudFormation Manager portal will open. 2021 FlashGrid Inc.18www.flashgrid.io

Step 16: Create CloudFormation stack – specify templateJust click Next to confirm use of the generated template. 2021 FlashGrid Inc.19www.flashgrid.io

Step 17: Create CloudFormation stack – specify stack detailsSpecify additional details, such as your SSH key name, subnet IDs, and security group ID. 2021 FlashGrid Inc.20www.flashgrid.io

Step 18: Create CloudFormation stack – advanced optionsYou can specify additional options for creating a stack or just click Next. 2021 FlashGrid Inc.21www.flashgrid.io

Step 19: Create CloudFormation stack – review and createReview stack options and click Create stack. 2021 FlashGrid Inc.22www.flashgrid.io

Step 20: SSH in to the first nodeAfter the CloudFormation stack is created, use SSH to connect to the first node of the cluster as user fg. If the cluster init already finished (takes 60-90 minutes) then you will see the following message. 2021 FlashGrid Inc.23www.flashgrid.io

Step 21: Check status of the cluster# sudo flashgrid-clusterThe cluster is ready. You can now create your database using DBCA. 2021 FlashGrid Inc.24www.flashgrid.io

Oracle 19c : de-support of Oracle RAC in SE2 Introduction Oracle Real Application Clusters (Oracle RAC) is the only solution to build an active – active cluster using shared storage for your Oracle database. Up to Oracle 18c Oracle RAC is available as a feature within

Oracle Database using Oracle Real Application Clusters (Oracle RAC) and Oracle Resource Management provided the first consolidation platform optimized for Oracle Database and is the MAA best practice for Oracle Database 11g. Oracle RAC enables multiple Oracle databases to be easily consolidated onto a single Oracle RAC cluster.

On Getting What You Want: Our Method of Manifestation This point cannot be overemphasized. You need to see that the way it is now is the way you have chosen it to be on some level.
