CHEMICAL REACTIONCP Soap is made by combining fats (base oils, either fixed or carrier) and Lye Solution (Lye a liquid of choice) Each oil type is madeup of fatty acid properties and contributesomething different to the bar of soap.Knowing the recommended percentages touse in developing recipes is essential becauseyou don’t want something too drying, brittle, moist, or unbalanced. Saponification is thechemical reaction between Lye and the fattyacid molecules in the oil.

Usethe blender to pulse the mixture until you reach light trace.Should resemble the early stages of pudding.4.Mixture will start to thicken. Add in any EO or FO to themixture. Stir with blender (do not pulse with motor, as thismay accelerate trace).5.Try to work quickly during these last steps becauseonce trace has been reached, your mixture will be 6.hardening more rapidly. Now you are ready to pour.Divide your base into other containers for color, or add colordirectly to the mixture. Stir until combined.Pour into mold.

With Castile soap, the curetime is 6 months.4.Soap is usable after two days, however, thelye is still active in the soap, so until thewater is fully dissipated from the soap, thelye may still be active.
