Wade II has been the Sr. AcademicManager/Athletic Director at Contra CostaCollege since 2001 and he came to CCCfrom the University of San Francisco. Johnhas extensive knowledge of intercollegiateathletics, having served for 17 years as aCoach at Eastern Washington University,The University of the Pacific, University ofCalifornia Santa Barbara, and The University ofSan Francisco.He has seen the Comets winChampionships in Women’s Basketball,Men’s Basketball, Men’s Soccer and Footballover his tenure. Coaching and Support StaffWelcome to 2016Comet Football!Contra Costa College is awonderful academic institutionwhere I recently received myA.A. degree, and I plan on having my playersfollow suit by making sure they graduate.We are striving to rebuild this program witha focus on local talent and making CCC theplace to be. My main objective is not only towin games, but more importantly to have ourplayers graduate and move on to four-yearuniversities. With the help of my wonderfulstaff, I hope to take Contra Costa Collegeback to its glory days. We will play ‘Fast &Physical’ and most of all preach academics.Thank you for continuing to support ourprogram, and together, let’s get ready for astrong season.” — Alonzo Carter, Head Football CoachAlonzo CarterACCC’s Head Football Coachlonzo Carter is from Oakland, CA. Alonzoattended Contra Costa College, where hereceived his A. A. and B.A. at Cal State EastBay. He also played football and ran trackfrom 1986-1989 at Cal State East Bay.Coach Carter’s coachingexperience includes: seven years asthe McClymonds High School FootballHead Coach, three years as BerkeleyHigh School’s Football Head Coach, and13 years as McClymonds’ Head TrackCoach. Alonzo was also Head Coachfor the 2009 summer Alameda/ContraCosta County All Star Game, and HeadCoach for the 2009 Holiday Classic EastBay vs. Sacramento.In 2012, Coach Carter led the Comets to the BayValley Conference Championship and was named theBVC and CCCFA Region II Coach of the Year.Continuing onward, Coach Carter once again ledthe Comets through 2013 BVC, 2014, 2015 Pacific 7Champions of the NCFC, making them 4-time winners.In addition, the Comets also won the Living Breath42016 CCC Comet FootballFoundation Bowl in 2012 and 2014.In honor of theseaccomplishments, Coach Carterwas awarded the 2014 Pacific 7 andAmerican Division Coach of the Year.Coach Carter also has 13 yearsexperience head coaching forAlameda/Contra Costa County YouthTrack Club, and was an original boardmember for the East Bay Warriors Youth FootballOrganization.When he’s not coaching, he enjoys listening to oldschool music, going to comedy shows and concerts withhis wife Roezell Carter, spending time with his children:Isaiah, Malikhi, Alonzo II, Alona, Anthony, and KennedieCarter, and of course, going to live sporting events.
