Check andmake sure all the required components are included in thecartons.Measure and cut out openings for the faucet(s), bathtubspout, and/or shower head. Install 1/2 inch moisture-resistantcement board or greenboard over back (1), front (2), and rear(3) wall surfaces of the rough opening.IMPORTANT NOTICETo prevent unnecessary delays, before starting the installation, refer to the Kit Contents section to verify the contents of thecarton are correct.2.123Allow the contents to adjust to room temperature for atleast six hours before installation. The alcove wall panelsshould be installed at temperatures not less than 65 F.IMPORTANT NOTICEMeasure the bathtub to be sure the new wall panel kit will fit.IMPORTANT NOTICEFiller BoardsTo prevent possible water damage (wicking affect) to the wall, install the wall board with a 1/2 inch gap above the bathtubside lip, the front edge of the bathtub, and the floor. If an existing wall covering (B) (i.e. tile) does not extend to aheight equal to the height of the panel, it will be necessary toinstall a filler board (A) to that height. The filler board must bethe same thickness as the existing wall covering (tile). Usually1/4 inch masonite, or similar material, is adequate. If desired, the filler board can extend from the top edge of the tile to theceiling.800-325-70082.7Apply a coat of water or oil-based primer/sealer to all thesurfaces of the cement board or greenboard (follow themanufacturer’s instructions). Allow the primer to drythoroughly before applying any silicone adhesive. The Swan Corporation

Installation ProcedureNote: On subway tile and square tile panels, this process willkeep the faux grout lines running level, although thebottom tiles may not be evenly sized from the tub to thefirst faux grout line. Since every installation is slightlydifferent, it is up to the installer to create a patternmatch that is visually pleasing.Flat, Subway Tile, or Square TilePanel InstallationThe installation process is the same for either flat or tilepanels. Follow the steps in this section for installationinstructions.Back PanelIf the back wall measures less than the width of the panel, cutthe panel to fit the opening.1.4.Using a builder’s square, make sure the tub surface isperpendicular to the side walls. If the walls are out ofsquare, the bottom of all the panels may need cutting tofollow the contour of the tub surface. If the back panel must be cut (side-to-side) to fit theopening, find and mark the center of the back wall in thealcove opening. Use a level to draw a line from the tubsurface to a point above the height of the wall panel.CL2.3.6.Take several measurements, bottom to top, from thecenter line to each wall surface. These measurements willensure the back panel fits the exact contour of the twoside walls.6.Place the panel, finished side facing up, on a flat surface.Using a pencil, lightly mark the center of the back panel. If the tub surface is not perpendicular to the wall, use alevel and draw a line around the alcove on all three walls.Measure the distance from the line to the top of the tub.Transfer these measurements to both side panels and theback panel. Cut the bottoms of the panels. The Swan Corporation8800-325-7008

Installation Procedure7.Transfer the measurements onto the front surface of theback panel.IMPORTANT NOTICENote: The back panel can be cut slightly smaller than theopening because the side panels will cover any smallgap (less than 1/4 inch).DO NOT force a panel to fit a bowed or curved wall as it maybreak; furthermore, the resiliency of the panel can break thesilicone bond to the wall surface.Cutting the side panel to precisely fit the back wall is notnecessary if a corner molding, supplied in some kits, isused. This corner molding will cover gaps up to 1/2inch.Side Panel (with tub or shower controls)In some cases, side panels are designed with right and lefthand sides. If the side panel does not require cutting to size, proceed to the next section.Note: On SSIT-60-3, subway tile, and square tile panels, theside panels are marked with labels in the top, right-handor left-hand corner of the panel. The edge closest tothe label is the outside finished edge and should not becut.WARNINGDust HazardWhen cutting or drilling the Swanstoneproduct, use a dust collection method whichprevents dust particles from going into the air. Alwayswork in a well-ventilated area. To keep the area wellventilated, open windows and use exhaust fans. Alwaysuse an OSHA approved dust mask when cutting, drilling, orsanding Swanstone products.8.Place pieces of masking tape over the area where thesaw contacts the finished surface of the panel.9.Cut the panel using a circular saw with a 60-80 toothcarbide blade or a saber saw with a bi-metal blade (14teeth per inch).Cutting the side panel to precisely fit the back wall is notnecessary if a corner molding, supplied in some kits, isused. This corner molding will cover gaps up to 1/2inch.The SSIT-60-3 side panels also have integrated trim aspart of the panel. If these panels must be cut to fit thewalls, cut the edge opposite of the “trim” side.IMPORTANT NOTICEModel SSIT-60-3 side panels can be notched so the integraltrim fits into the back panel. However, this is not required aslong as the corner molding will seal the joint below the integraltrim area.10. Dry fit the back panel, and make any necessaryadjustments. Temporarily secure the back panel to thewall in order to properly fit the side panels.800-325-70089The Swan Corporation

Installation Procedure1.Place the panel on top of the tub and slide it against theback wall panel.2.Scribe (mark) the panel, as shown. If the panel is widerthan the wall, take this width into consideration whenscribing the panel.4.Cut the panel using a circular saw with a 60-80 toothcarbide blade or a saber saw with a bi-metal blade (14teeth per inch).5.Measure the openings for the tub/shower faucet(s) and/orshower head.6.Transfer the measurements to the panel.7.Cut clearance holes using a router, saber saw, or holesaw. Drill or cut from the finished side of the panel. Forbest results, when drilling, place a scrap of wood beneaththe hole to ensure a clean cut.Flat PanelSquare Tile or Subway TileNote: Precisely scribing and cutting the panel will provide aclean 90 degree corner with no need for cornermolding.WARNINGDust HazardWhen cutting or drilling the Swanstoneproduct, use a dust collection method whichprevents dust particles from going into the air. Alwayswork in a well-ventilated area. To keep the area wellventilated, open windows and use exhaust fans.
