Press kit 2017 / New in 20172017 is alsothe Picassoyear in RouenThe Carré desDocks in Le HavreA season dedicated to Pablo Picasso1 April - 11 September 2017This new Convention Centre will enable the city toincrease its share of the business tourism market.Numerous conferences and seminars are alreadyplanned in 2017. Instead of the Docks Café, this newconvention centre is divided into two parts:Three museums in Rouen holda major exhibition dedicated toPablo Picasso.Numerous works of art made by the artist will bedisplayed. The Centre Pompidou, the Picasso museumsof Paris and Antibes and the Münster Museumin Germany have agreed to lend many pieces forthe duration of the exhibition including sculptures,engravings, paintings, drawings, etc.These works of art will be displayed in three differentplaces: the Museum of Fine Arts in Rouen, the Museumof Ceramics, and the Le Secq des Tournelles Museum. The first part comprises an auditorium (2,450 seatsmaximum) used for concerts as well, meeting rooms anda restaurant (800 guests maximum).The Châteaude BosmeletBeautiful example of Louis XIII architecture, thischâteau stands at the centre of the longest alley ofthree-hundred year-old lime trees in Europe. The park,designed by Le Nôtre’s head gardener, contains a chapel (18th century), an orangery (16th century), an enclosed garden planted with flowers and remains fromthe Second World War (blockhouse and V1 launch padsrestored in memory of Michel Hollard, «the man whosaved London»). Inside the château, you can see somedrawings, theatrical costumes, painted backdrops andprops which belong to Alain Germain’s collection, thenew owner of the place whose costumes are kept atthe Performing Arts Department of the National Library of France. A convivial place of cultural exchange, theChâteau de Bosmelet will hold art exhibitions, concertsand conferences, and house an international centre forcontemporary poetry. The second part is dedicated to exhibitions with 7,700m2 divided into three halls on the ground floor. On thesecond floor, a 283 m2 reception hall and a 2,230 m2exhibition hall were built.These exhibitions will also provide the opportunity tolearn more about the artist and his life at the Châteauof Boisgeloup in Gisors between 1931 and 1935, a littleknown period of his life.
