Multinail Hub - Butt Joined Beams27 May 2020Multinail AustraliaButt Joined BeamsButt JoinedThis is a simple but effective method of joining structural timber with Multinail connectors to provide longer lengths of timber. The sketch shows only one possible plate configuration – fully punched plate with one plate per side. Other options involve using BJ plates with two plates per sideand MN, MNH and MD plates with two plates per side.Figure B1-13-01-01Figure B1-13-01-02Manufacturing Specifications:In general, it is important that tight quality control is maintained to produce auniform final product with adequate strength. Manufacturing specifications aredetailed in Quality Procedures Part B4. It is important that operators read andcomply with these specifications.Sizing of Timber:For certain members, it is possible to maintain the original timber propertieswhen determining the application of butt joined beams. Members include floorjoists, ceiling joists, rafters and common wall studs. Require very tightfabrication tolerances where the ends of the timber must be in completecontact.Figure D2-03-01-01For members such as lintels and strutting beams, the resultant butt joinedmember’s allowable span may be required. This is to allow for any take up atthe joint as the member is loaded. These members always require tightfabrication tolerances.Plating:The joining details are to be determined specifically for the application aspecific engineered design.Figure D2-03-01-02All the range of standard Multinail nail plates and, in addition, special BJ platesmay be used for Butt Joining.Due to continual product improvement Multinail Australia Pty Ltd. reserves the right to change the product/s depicted - both in description and specification. This document has to be read in conjunction with Multinail’s Technical Manual.

Multinail Hub - Flitch Beam27 May 2020Multinail AustraliaFlitch BeamMultinail Flitch BeamThe Multinail Flitch Beam, is a composite member that combines the strengthand stiffness of structural steel with timber. A flitch beam consists of a steelplate sandwiched between two pieces of timber nailed together with powderactuated nails. The beam derives most of its strength and rigidity from the steelplate and the timber sides provide bracing to prevent buckling of the steel.Minimum timber grade of F5/MGP10.Maximum wind speed of N3/C1.Minimum timber width of 35mm.Moisture content of 18% or less during manufacturing.Figure D2-04-01-01Flitch beam properties140MF6 190MF8 240MF6 240MF8 240MF10 290MF6 290MF8 290MF10Steelbs(mm) 6Width868106810Steelds(mm) 135Depth185235235235285285285Beamb(mm) 76Width78767880767880Beamd(mm) 140Depth190240240240290290290Figure D2-04-01-03Figure D2-04-01-02

Multinail Hub - MultiLam Members27 May 2020Multinail AustraliaMultiLam MembersIntroduction to MultiLam membersThe method of joining timber using Multinail connectors to form members of length, depth and breadth required by today’s builders and architects is engineered andmarketed under the trade name of MultiLam.Multinail fabricators have the ability to maximise the value and flexibility of their timber stock. Furthermore, it is possible to rationalise the range of length and sizes keptfor special tasks.Multilam timber can also be manufactured for resale to stockists or builders. You can develop a new range of customers who may otherwise have difficulty in obtainingcost effective timber supplies in the sizes that they require and in an acceptable time frame.Vertically Laminated:These are manufactured by stacking two sections one upon the other and joining them with Multinail nail plates to produce a deeper section. The size and spacing ofthe connectors is engineered to give a manufactured member with the strength and deflection characteristics in accordance with AS1720 Timber Engineering Code.A typical MultiLam designFigure D2-02-01-01Manufacturing Specifications:In general, it is important that tight quality control is maintained to produce auniform final product with adequate strength. Manufacturing specifications aredetailed in Quality Procedures Part B4. It is important that operators read andcomply with these specifications.Size:The resultant joined member exhibits no different characteristics than a solidmember when used in accordance with approved timber-sizing tables fordomestic buildings.Figure D2-02-01-01Plating:The joining details are to be determined specifically for the application using aspecific engineered design.Due to continual product improvement Multinail Australia Pty Ltd. reserves the right to change the product/s depicted - both in description and specification. This document has to be read in conjunction with Multinail’s Technical Manual.

Floor Span Tables: 40 psf Live Load and 10 psf Dead Load TO USE: 1. Select the Simple Span or Continuous Span table, as required. 2. Find a span that meets or exceeds the required clear span. 3. Read the corresponding joist series, depth and spacing. CAUTION: For floor systems that require both simple span and continuous span joists,

Supporters of Wallace and Woodfox, who make up two-thirds of a group known to supporters as the "Angola Three," say that the convictions were at least partly because of the men's involvement with the Black Panther Party.
