Vestry NewsProperty CommitteeWe held our parish-wide Mutual Ministry Review onSaturday morning, June 11th. It was ably facilitated by Rev.Kathy Corley, who has been helping guide us through ourtransition. We had a good attendance, and everyone agreedthat it was an enjoyable and very worthwhile experience. Ingeneral, we concluded that our committee and ministry workis doing very well. There are a greater number of committees, new leadership in some committees, and stronger membershipthan there was a few years ago. The session left us energized tocontinue doing our fine work; it was agreed that a new rector isneeded to help give us a clear direction for these ministries. Theitems identified for immediate action are: Finding a Chair for the Worship Committee; I ampleased to report the Kathy Collett has already graciouslyagreed to serve in this position. We know that she will do herusual superb job! Developing more complete and frequent acolyte training; Ken Iles and Skip Beardsell have volunteered to create aSt. James’ acolyte training manual. Rahel Reger and the YouthCommittee have already commenced planning this training. Developing small group gatherings, both social (like theFoyers and other dinner groups that used to be held) and formative (book study, Bible reflection, etc); Terry Neil has offeredto discuss the social functions with her Fellowship Committee;we are hopeful that someone is willing to spearhead the development of small formation groups. If you have any ideas, wewould love to hear from you!In other news, at its June meeting, the Vestry: Approved an expenditure of up to 9,000 for the purchase and installation of 24 more niches in the columbarium. Approved an expenditure of 1,250 for the bathroom inthe Day School. Approved an expenditure of up to 1,300 for a fireproofcabinet for storage of parish records. However, Bruce Evans hasvery generously donated such a cabinet, which will save us a lotof money! Thank you so very much, Bruce!Enjoy a wonderful summer!– Patty FoxThe Couper Room, new lavatory, back hall exit, and sacristy are nearly all done. For those of you also who feel this tension, let me suggest saying a heartfelt AMEN after being moved bya particular song or sermon. Simply“reserve” a weekend by filling out the flower book located in the back of the church. Flowers can be arranged by alocal florist or purchased at the Thursday Clinton farmers market. Alternatively, if you have flowers in your garden, you can make your own arrangement; vases can be borrowed from the cabinet above the oven in the St. James’ kitchen.4
