“When Alejandra and I set out to plan and create theCandidate Report Card, we decided the best approach wasone where we let the voters decide who the best candidateis for them. We simply aggregate information about eachcandidate and display it for the public.”- Kevin Amezaga, Executive Director

This is the second iteration of our Candidate Report Card for the 2020 Primary and General Elections, concluding November 3rd, 2020. We published the Candidates’ Views for the primary, though some ofthose stances have changed and those changes have been reflected on this version of the CRC.Esteban Bovo Jr.Daniella Levine CavaThe system is simple. We asked themayoral candidates a series of questionsrelating to transportation in Our County. Each candidate responded and theirstance was recorded. If the stancematched with our policy, they got apoint. If the candidate did not answer thequestion, they were not evaluated on it.If a stance aligns with our policy, theygot a thumbs up. If a stance did notalign, they got a thumbs down. Simple.Ourpoliciesarepublicinformation.Learn more at riders.miami/platform

The Candidates’ Responses (So Far)Daniella Levine Cava“This was a great process and I’m grateful for the recognition of my positions. Unfortunately some of these did notallow for nuanced answers. I support increased density along corridor but not everywhere, such as towering overhomes where the zoning should be more “feathered”.I believe my more nuanced answers are also posted & reflect support for preservation of open agriculture lands as wellas bicycle concerns. Remember some answering don’t have a recent voting record to be judged, just a past history toexplain. An independent transportation authority would be wonderful but would be extremely difficult if not impossible toachieve under our laws so I will seek a transportation alliance to link all with a shared plan.I prefer train & also am realistic it would take many more years to accomplish it, & would be price prohibitive onKendall & East-West. I did support it South, to Beach, North & Northeast. BRT is as fast and easy as train but doesn’toffer a 1-seat ride making it less desirable.”
