The WaveA publication of the Palmetto Dunes Women’s ClubJuly 1,2020Newsletter 75Welcome BackPresident’s CornerMichele Davisdavis1622@twc.comHello, ladies! I do hope this issue of the Wave finds you healthy and safe. This has been anextremely challenging year for our group – social distancing is not what we are about undernormal circumstances. As you know, our activities have been mightily curtailed as we weatherthe pandemic. Some groups were able to continue meeting as I have relayed to you in priorcommunications. Others are now trying to restart gatherings. What most of us learned duringthis respite is how much we enjoy each other and our social activities. I know I miss thecamaraderie we share and have heard the same from others. So we will attempt to carry onas restrictions are lifted and safe gatherings allow. Our new computer system has sent emails to all current members for membership renewal. Atlast year’s Annual Meeting, we changed the membership year to run from July 1 to June 30, tomore appropriately align with our activities. Under normal circumstances most groups meetfrom August/September through May/June, only a few meet all year round. Covid-19 hascertainly altered our schedule, but we will try to move forward. We have rescheduled our Spring 2020 Luncheon/20 Year Celebration to October 23 atPoseidon in Shelter Cove. This luncheon will serve as our Fall Luncheon, Fall businessmeeting, and 20 Year Celebration. We have plans to use the second floor, which is open airand has a lovely view of Broad Creek. Please mark your calendars and save the date!Invitations through our website will be forthcoming. The Executive Board and Standing Committee participants are forging ahead and makingplans for FALL 2020 / SPRING 2021. We hope to continue to pursue the spirit of communityfor all women living in Palmetto Dunes, Shelter Cove, and Leamington. If anyone is inclined totake a more active role in the workings of the activities, such as becoming a group activityleader, please let us know. We are currently looking for leaders of Happy Tizers, PedalPushers, Lunch and a Movie, and Knitwits. With the assistance of the computer system, it is amuch easier task than in years past.I hope to see you all sooner rather than later as we forge forward into Fall 2020!Stay Safe,Michele

We started in September with pretty good size groupsattending lunches at Red Fish, CharBar, and Charlie’s to name but three. We also saw some interestingmovies like Knives Out, Rocketman, and Downton Abbey. And then the theaters went dark. Sorry to sayCovid-19 has closed the theaters and the restaurants for group dining so we have been on hold since March2020. The plan is to begin again in the Fall, providing all goes well. So, for the group, let’s plan on reuniting inSeptember (if we can).As for coping during the pandemic, just about everyone I have talked to has watched and streamed shows onTV we would have never thought of seeing or doing before. I believe one plus from this experience is, we areall a little bit more technically talented. Looking forward to the Fall!

The group would order fromMichael Anthony’s Market menu and outdoorseating can be an option, weather permitting. Hilton Head Distillery for a rum tastingand we can bring our own appetizers. The groupwould be limited to 20 people and the event wouldbe held inside the Distillery’s spacious tasting room.Be on the lookout for an email from Kathy Reynoldsto gauge interest in these options.
