FLU SEASON UPDATE“CommunityCorner”provideseducational monthly articles that offerimportant information and updates forall Families, Residents and Staff!ALL STAFF, VOLUNTEERS and FAMILIES/GUESTS ARE ENCOURAGED NOT TO REPORT FORWORK OR VISIT EVERGREEN HAMLETS IF YOU HAVE A COUGH OR A FEVER. LETS KEEPEVERYONE SAFE AND HEALTHY DURING THE FLU SEASON!Flu Prevention:Many people use the term Flu to refer to any illness caused by a virus, such as stomach flu orthe common cold. However, the influenza virus causes illness that tends to be more severethan other viruses. The influenza virus can cause serious illness and even death in people withcertain chronic health conditions. Influenza and its complication of pneumonia remains theleading annual preventable cause of death, particularly for those living in health care facilitiesor with underlying health conditions.About the Influenza/ Flu Vaccination: Is the best protection against influenza illness and effective way to help people stay healthy, prevent illness, and even save lives. Doesn't protect against other viruses or bacteria that may cause colds or stomach illnesses(the stomach flu). You cannot get influenza from a flu shot. The best way to protect against influenza is to get immunized every year. The virus changes (mutates) every year so that a new vaccine must be administerednually. Even if you’re healthy.this season, get immunized against influenza and protect thosearound you where you live, work and play. The seasonal influenza vaccine is safe and effective. Hand Washing is the most important method of reducing the spread of infection.an-Cough Etiquette: Please cough into your sleeves. Coughing into yourhands or even using tissues can spread germs!
