Due to the design of the removabletabs, the RangeFinderII, Adventurer, Acclaimand Ambassador tow bars can not be used.Adapters, except the BX8833 and BX88151,can not be used with this baseplate.Installation Notes:The fascia andaluminum bumper and are removed andreinstalled during installation of the baseplate.Drilling is required. Trimming of the fascia isrequired.The dimensional variations between otherwiseidentical vehicles can be considerable.While the baseplate was designed for easyinstallation, it may be necessary to tailor thebaseplate slightly to compensate for automanufacturer’s tolerances. These minoradjustments may include filing a hole slightly,bending electrical rods or bending end plates.11. Remove push pins (white arrow) from the topcorner edge of the fascia. Using the Phillipsscrew driver, remove the Phillips screw (grayarrow), do this to both sides and set aside forlater reinstallation.The BX8869 Bulb and Socket Wiring Kit isrecommended for this vehicle. 22. Remove push pin from top edge of fasciajust below hood latch and set aside forreinstallation later. Possible location of the BX8869Bulb & Socket Wiring KitHandling of some cosmetic partswhen installing this product mayrequire the use of protective covers,rags, specialty tools, etc. to preventdamage.Page 3 of 7405-0002 Rev E07/27/11

Do this on both sides andset aside bolts for later reinstallation.55. Behind the fascia on the bottom of the bumper,are two push pins to remove from the fascia’stabs. Remove with a flat screw driver. Pullthe fascia forward on both sides and set asidecarefully for later reinstallation.7. Using a 14MM socket, remove the two boltson each side of the bumper and take thebumper off. Set aside for later reinstallation. 66. On the driver’s side only, using a flat screwdriver release the tabs from the top of thebumper and tie the wire loom up in the openarea during baseplate installation. 3. Just forward the front tire on the upper cornerof the fascia and inside the wheel well, turn thescrew 90o to remove it (white arrow). Using aPhillips screw driver, remove the upper screw(gray arrow). Do this on both sides and setaside for reinstallation later reinstallation. 3 7Page 4 of 7405-0002 Rev E07/27/11

This hole willallow the installer to insert the nut plates insideof the frame rail.99. Slide the baseplate up between the frame railsand align with the existing hole on each side.When using power drills be aware of thedangers of torque and drill bit length. 111010. Insert 3/8-16 x 1 1/4” hex bolts with 3/8” lockwashers attached to 3/8-16 nut plates with 14”wire inserted into the frame rail on both sidesto hold the baseplate in place. 1211. Using the baseplate as a template, drill bothholes in the under side of the frame rail with a13/32” drill bit. Do this on both sides.BE SURE TO USE LOCTITE RED ON ALL BOLTSBEFORE TIGHTENING. TIGHTEN ALL BOLTSACCORDING TO THE TORQUE CHART ON THEFRONT PAGE OF THESE INSTRUCTIONS OR ONPAGE 3 OF THE BASEPLATE TOWING GENERALINSTRUCTIONS.12. Insert 3/8-16 x 1 1/4” hex bolts and 3/8” lockwashers with 3/8-16 nut plates with 14” wireinserted into the frame rail. Use loctite on allthe bolts and tighten. Be sure to reattach thewire loom to the top of the bumper. 15 15.Attach baseplate safety cables as in abovephotos or as close to as possible. If you areunable to place safety cables in this location,position the cables around a solid piece of theframe.Be sure that ALL electrical connectionsare plugged in properly and functioningBEFORE installing the fascia.DEALER or INSTALLER:Be certain the user receives theinstruction sheets for their products.Page 6 of 7405-0002 Rev E07/27/11 13. Move the bracket up onto the baseplate andreattach.141616. Hold the fascia as close to its original positionas possible, mark and trim the grill with a utilityknife to allow the baseplate receivers to comethrough (white arrows). Reinstall the fascia.The two license plate screws on the top mayhave to be raised up about 1/2” (gray arrows).Install the tow bar and safety cablesaccording to the instructions provided in theirpackages. When demonstrating this to thecustomer, be sure to include all the contentsand packages.Do NOT substitute other devices if the towbar pins and clips are misplaced.
