K to 12 BASIC EDUCATIONCURRICULUMDescription of Framework

Technology and Livelihood Education Encompasses the field of HOMEECONOMICS (H. E.(; INDUSTRIALARTS (IA(; AGRI‐FISHERY ARTS(AFA); INFORMATIONCOMMUNICATION andTECHNOLOGY (ICT). The 24 coursescan be categorized under any ofthese fields.

TLE as a course has two streams‐‐‐ theTR based TLE and the Entrepreneurbased TLE ‐‐‐ and every school has achoice as to which stream to offer, withconsideration for faculty, facilities andresources. Both streams are based onthe training regulations, but theEntrepreneur based TLE embedsentrepreneurship concepts in theteaching of the various subjects in HE.IA, AFA, and ICT.

TLE is geared toward the developmentof technological proficiency and isanchored on knowledge andinformation , entrepreneurial concepts, process and delivery, work values andlife skills. This means that the TLE thatworks is one which is built on adequatemastery of knowledge and information, skills and processes, and the acquisitionof right work values and life skills.

The TLE that is functional is one which equipsstudents with skills for lifelong learning. TLEthat is concerned only with mere definitionof terms is meaningless and shallow. TLEthat is focused on mastery of skills andprocesses without right work values isanemic and dangerous. An effective TLE isone that is founded on the cognitive, behavioral or psychomotor and effectivedimensions of human development.Teaching TLE MEANS FACTS, CONCEPTS,SKILLS and VALUES is there entirely.

TLE by its nature is dominantly a skillsubject hence the teacher must engagestudent in an experiential, contextualized and authentic teachinglearning process. It is a subject in whichstudents learn best by doing. It isintegrative in approach For instance, itintegrates entrepreneurship with all theareas of TLE. It integrates concepts, skills, and values.
