To reduce the risk ofunintentional rotation of theignition key, do not change theway the ignition key and RemoteKeyless Entry (RKE) transmitter,if equipped, are connected to theprovided key rings.{ WarningIf the key is unintentionallyrotated while the vehicle isrunning, the ignition could bemoved out of the RUN position.This could be caused by heavyitems hanging from the key ring,or by large or long items attachedto the key ring that could becontacted by the driver orsteering wheel. If the ignitionmoves out of the RUN position,the engine will shut off, brakingand steering power assist may be(Continued)The ignition key and key rings, andRKE transmitter, if equipped, aredesigned to work together as asystem to reduce the risk ofunintentionally moving the key outof the RUN position. The ignitionkey has a small hole to allowattachment of the provided key ring.It is important that any replacementignition keys have a small hole. Seeyour dealer if a replacement key isrequired.The combination and size of therings that came with your keys werespecifically selected for yourvehicle. The rings are connected tothe key like two links of a chain toreduce the risk of unintentionallymoving the key out of the RUNposition. Do not add any additionalitems to the ring attached to theignition key. Attach additional itemsonly to the second ring, and limitadded items to a few essential keysor small, light items no larger thanan RKE transmitter.

Keep RFID tags away fromthe key when starting the vehicle.LS2LT1LTThe 2LT key can be used for alllocks. This vehicle has pushbuttonstart.

If a key is lost orstolen, a replacement can bepurchased and programmed throughyour dealer. When the replacementkey is programmed to this vehicle,all remaining keys must also bereprogrammed. Any lost or stolenkeys will no longer work once thenew key is programmed.Programming with TwoRecognized KeysTo program a new key:1. Insert the original, alreadyprogrammed key in the ignitionand turn the ignition on withoutstarting the vehicle.2. Turn the ignition off, andremove the key.113. Quickly, within five seconds,insert the second originalalready programmed key in theignition and turn the ignition onwithout starting the vehicle.4. Turn the ignition off, andremove the key.5. Insert the new key to beprogrammed, and withinfive seconds, turn the ignitionon without starting the vehicle.The security light will turn offonce the key has beenprogrammed.6. Repeat Steps 1–5 if additionalkeys are to be programmed.If a key is lost or damaged, see yourdealer to have a new key made.Programming without aRecognized KeyProgram a new key to the vehiclewhen a recognized key is notavailable. Canadian regulationsrequire that owners see their dealer.

Thevehicle must be off and all of thekeys you wish to program must bewith you.1. Insert the new vehicle key intothe ignition.2. Turn the ignition on withoutstarting the vehicle. Thesecurity light will come on.3. Wait 10 minutes until thesecurity light turns off.4. Turn the ignition off.5. Repeat Steps 2–4 two moretimes. After the third time, turnthe ignition on without startingthe vehicle; the key is learnedand all previously known keyswill no longer work with thevehicle.6. To program the second key,turn the ignition off and insertthe second key to be learnedand turn the ignition on withoutstarting the vehicle.After the two keys are learned,remaining keys can be learned byfollowing the procedure in“Programming with TwoRecognized Keys.”Battery Replacement(1LT Only)CautionWhen replacing the battery, donot touch any of the circuitry onthe transmitter. Static from yourbody could damage thetransmitter.The battery is not rechargeable. Toreplace the battery:1. Press the button on the side ofthe RKE transmitter to extendthe key. Never pull the key outwithout pressing the button.2. Remove the battery cover byprying it with a finger.3. Remove the battery by pushingon the battery and sliding ittoward the key blade.4. Insert the new battery, positiveside facing up. Push thebattery down until it is held inplace. Replace with a CR2032or equivalent battery.5. Snap the battery cover back onto the transmitter.

If thevehicle has this feature, there will bebuttons on the outside front doorhandles.The vehicle can be customized toalways unlock all doors on the firstlock/unlock button press. SeeVehicle Personalization 0 105.Keyless Unlocking/Locking fromthe Driver DoorWhen the doors are locked and theRKE transmitter is within 1 m (3 ft)of the driver door handle, pressingthe lock/unlock button on the driverdoor handle will unlock the driverdoor. If the lock/unlock button isDriver Side Shown, PassengerSimilarPressing the lock/unlock button willcause all doors to lock if any of thefollowing occur:. It has been no more thanfive seconds since the first lock/unlock button press. Two lock/unlock button presseswere used to unlock all doors. Any vehicle door has openedand all doors are now closed.Keyless Unlocking/Locking fromthe Passenger DoorsWhen the doors are locked and theRKE transmitter is within 1 m (3 ft)of the passenger door handle,pressing the lock/unlock button onthe passenger door handle willunlock all doors.Pressing the lock/unlock button willcause all doors to lock if any of thefollowing occur:.
