The Auxiliary Flight Suit is authorized to be worn during flight on anyaviation mission performed under orders, or during flight standby status(B), unless the order-issuing authority specifies other uniform.2. This Flight Suit shall be similar in pattern, color and design to those wornby Active Duty Coast Guard aviators.3. The Flight Suit shall be manufactured of fire-retardant material similar tothat specified for Active Duty Coast Guard aviators.B. Auxiliary Flight Suit Markings1. Patchesi. Right Breast. A Cloth Patch shall be displayed on the right breastof the Flight Suit, as shown below in Figure 1. The Patch colorsshall be similar to those of the Active Duty aviation patch, with thecolor order of the Patch reversed, as illustrated.1. Patch size shall be approximately 2-1/4’ by 3-3/8”2. This Patch may beLeather or Cloth, at the discretion of the order-issuing authority.1. Leather Patch. The Leather Patch shall have the lettering insilver, embossed on black leather.2. Cloth Patch. The Cloth Patch shall have silver/white threadon a dark cloth background, blue or black, at the discretionof the order-issuing authority.3. Patch size shall be approximately 2” by 4”4. Left Sleeve1. A patch of the American National Ensign shall be worncentered on the left sleeve, positioned with the top of thepatch ¾” below the shoulder seam. The flag shall bepositioned with the field forward. This patch shall beapproximately 2-1/4” by 3-1/2” in size.iv. Right Sleeve1. A patch of the insignia of the member’s Coast Guard orAuxiliary District, or of the relevant Coast Guard AirStation shall be worn centered on the right sleeve,positioned with the top of the patch ¾” below the shoulderseam. Choice of the insignia shall be made by the orderissuing authority.— Page 3 of 5 —

Aviators may wear the insignia of their highest current or pastAuxiliary office on the shoulders/epaulets of the Flight Suit. Theseinsignia must be sew-on type, on a background matching the colorof the Flight Suit. The outside edge of the office insignia shall beplaced ¾” in from the shoulder seam or outside end of the epaulet(if present).3. Auxiliary Operational Mission Participation Designatori. At the discretion of the order-issuing authority, Auxiliarists maywear a sleeve patch indicating recognition of Operational MissionParticipation. This patch is illustrated in Figure 3, below and shallindicate the level of participation by depicting the number ofmission flight hours so recognized by the order-issuing authority.It shall be worn ¼” below the District or Air Station Patch on theright sleeve. This patch shall be approximately 3/8” by 2” in size.ii. This patch shall have silver border and silver lettering on a blackbackground. Lettering shall be all capitalized.Figure 3. Flight Suit with insignia (see Figure 4)ii. Outerwear, as specified by the order-issuing authority,iii. Footwear, as specified by the order-issuing authority.iv.
