What agreat and mighty God we serve. We are truly privileged to live in a country where we arefree to continue living our lives for our Saviour and Lord.Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courtswith praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.(Psalm 100:4) As I ponder on the many things for whichI am grateful, my thoughts turn to how God has blessedthe ministries of Accelerated Christian Education andLighthouse Christian Academy these past many years. What a joy it is to co-labor with those of you who serveHim in the ministry of homeschooling. Please join me in honoring Him in all we say and do.Let your light so shine before men, that they may see yourgood works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.(Matthew 5:16) He has called us to light our world bytouching the lives of each one He brings into our realmof influence—for His glory.Office HoursMonday–Friday8:15 a.m.–4:15 p.m., CTTennessee OfficePhone: 615-612-5200Fax: 615-612-6126Toll-Free: 866-746-6534Websitelcaed.comMailing AddressP.O. Mr. Trueword! Look! No, no, little one!Oh, thank you!Oh, no!You are welcome.Character Counts!COURAGEOUS—God desires Believers to becourageous, to stand for God’s Word regardless ofcircumstances. Courageous is demonstrating that Godis with me, giving strength and firmness of characterthat enables me to endure any trial or danger. In thischaracter strip, J. Michael and Mr. Trueword are at thezoo. J. Michael notices a boy has gone over the fence andis in danger as he heads toward the bear. Mr. Truewordcourageously goes over the fence and rescues the boyand takes him to his parents. That takes courage!Noah was a man of courage. God spared not the oldworld, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher ofrighteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world ofthe ungodly. (II Peter 2:5) Despite the ridicule of thosearound him, he preached courageously for 120 years, yet only his family was saved.Joseph was a man of courage. He was hated by hisbrothers, sold as a slave into Egypt, falsely accused, thrown into prison, and was forgotten in prison. Yethe courageously stood for what was right, and, in theprovidence of God, became Pharaoh’s right-hand man. When his brothers found him alive in Egypt, Josephsaid, But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but Godmeant it unto good. (Genesis 50:20)Moses was a man of courage as he stood againstPharaoh, and through him God brought ten greatplagues to deliver His people out of Egypt. Moses toldJoshua, Be strong and of a good courage. (Deuteronomy31:6) Later, the Lord told Joshua, Be strong and of agood courage (Joshua 1:6). Joshua then commanded thepeople to be strong and of good courage (Joshua 10:25).This phrase appears no less than nine times in Scripture!Civic leaders in Daniel’s day sought occasion againsthim. They convinced the king to sign a proclamationthat no one could ask a petition of anyone but the kingfor 30 days. Now when Daniel knew that the writing wassigned, he went into his house; and his windows beingopen in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled uponhis knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanksbefore his God, as he did aforetime. (Daniel 6:10) Danielwas courageous to stand against the edicts of man anddo what was right and pray to the God of Heaven.Stephen was a man of courage as he preached theWord of God. The Jews were convicted of their sin;And cast him out of the city, and stoned him. (Acts 7:58)Paul was also a man of courage. He fearlessly preachedthe Word of God and was eventually placed in prisonfor his faith. In spite of this, he said, According to myearnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shallbe ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so nowalso Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it beby life, or by death. (Philippians 1:20)Scripture is replete with illustrations of both men andwomen who courageously stood for God. This is evidentfrom Hebrews 11, the faith chapter. May God help us tobe courageous like those we find in Scripture who stoodfor what was right—regardless of the cost!Used with permission of A.C.E.2
