Reflections on the Life of a Bishop“It is in fact the task of every Bishop to proclaim hope to the world, hope based onthe proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ A stance of theological hope, together withfaith and love, must completely shape the Bishop’s pastoral ministry.“The Bishop is called in a particular way to be a prophet, witness and servantRI KRSH H KDV WKH GXW\ RI LQVWDOOLQJ FRQ¿GHQFH DQG SURFODLPLQJ EHIRUH DOO SHRSOH WKH basis of Christian hope (cf. 1 Pet 3:15). The Bishop is the prophet, witness and servant ofthis hope, especially where a culture of ‘the here and now’ leaves no room for opennessto transcendence. Where hope is absent, faith itself is called into question. Love too isweakened by the loss of this virtue. Especially in times of growing unbelief and indifference, hope is a stalwart support for faith and an effective incentive for love. It draws its strengthfrom the certainty of God’s desire for the salvation of all people (1 Tim 2:4) and from theconstant presence of the Lord Jesus, the Emmanuel who remains with us always, until theend of the world (cf. Mt 28:20).Celebration of the EucharistandRite of Episcopal OrdinationofThe Most Reverend Robert C. Evans, D.D., J.C.L.asTitular Bishop of Aquae RegiaeandAuxiliary Bishop of Providence“Only by the light and consolation born of the Gospel can a Bishop succeed inkeeping his own hope alive (cf. Rom 15:4) and in nourishing the hope of those entrustedto his pastoral care. Guidelines for the Reception of CommunionFor Catholics/RUG -HVXV &RPHfrom /\ULF /LWXUJ\ by C. Alexander PeloquinO God, Beyond All PraisingAs Catholics, we fully participate in the celebration of the Eucharist when we receive HolyCommunion. We are encouraged to receive Communion devoutly and frequently. In order to be properlydisposed to receive Communion, participants should not be conscious of grave sin and normally should havefasted for one hour. A person who is conscious of grave sin is not to receive the Body and Blood of the Lordwithout prior sacramental confession except for a grave reason where there is no opportunity for confession. In this case, the person is to be mindful of the obligation to make an act of perfect contrition, including theintention of confessing as soon as possible (Code of Canon Law, canon 916). A frequent reception of theSacrament of Penance is encouraged for all.For our fellow ChristiansWe welcome our fellow Christians to this celebration of the Eucharist as our brothers and sisters. We pray that our common baptism and the action of the Holy Spirit in this Eucharist will draw us closer toRQH DQRWKHU DQG EHJLQ WR GLVSHO WKH VDG GLYLVLRQV ZKLFK VHSDUDWH XV :H SUD\ WKDW WKHVH ZLOO OHVVHQ DQG ¿QDOO\ disappear, in keeping with Christ’s prayer for us “that they may all be one” (Jn. 17:21).Because Catholics believe that the celebration of the Eucharist is a sign of the reality of the onenessof faith, life, and worship, members of those churches with whom we are not yet fully united are ordinarily notadmitted to Holy Communion. Eucharistic sharing in exceptional circumstances by other Christians requirespermission according to the directives of the diocesan bishop and the provisions of canon law (canon 844 §4). Members of the Orthodox Churches, the Assyrian Church of the East, and the Polish National CatholicChurch are urged to respect the discipline of their own Churches. According to Roman Catholic discipline, theCode of Canon Law does not object to the reception of communion by Christians of these Churches (canon844 § 3).For those not receiving Holy CommunionAll who are not receiving Holy Communion are encouraged to express in their hearts a prayerfuldesire for unity with the Lord Jesus and with one another. For non-ChristiansWe also welcome to this celebration those who do not share our faith in Jesus Christ. While we cannotadmit them to Holy Communion, we ask them to offer their prayers for the peace and unity of the human family.Copyright 1996 United States Catholic Conference. All rights reserved.209

The dynamics of group size is an important component of group work. A small group is often considered to consist of three or more people (Beebe & Masterson, 2003). Groups of two are called dyads and are not encouraged for group work because there are not a sufficient number of individuals to generate creativity and a diversity of ideas (Csernica et al., 2002). In general, it is suggested that .
