Pastor’s MessageDear brothers and sisters, Pope St.Paul VI established the fourth Sundayof Easter as Good Shepherd Sunday, aday to pray for the increase in priestlyvocations. Today I invite you to recite theprayer below in the Liturgy Corner section. Our parishes have beenblessed for many yearswith abundant vocationscoming from our ownfamilies; many of themhave already passedfrom this life to the Father’s house and somestill continue to servethe Church with greatdedication. Furthermore, God does notabandon the prayers ofmany people: on thecontrary in his Providence we have young people who arepreparing themselves to serve God intwo seminaries in the Archdiocese. What a blessing! Jesus’ promise that“will never leave us orphans,” alsoimplies our constant prayer to the owner of the vineyard, to send more workers to his vineyard. That is why it isnecessary more than ever to pray andsupport priestly vocations and especially those of ourArchdiocese. Prayerfor priestly vocations is somethingthat concerns everyone. No one is excluded from thistask, because we areall members of theChurch, a familythat wants the children to grow upknowing the Catholic faith and nourished by the HolyEucharist. Withoutthe priest, “there isno Eucharist and without the Eucharistthere is no priest,” said John Paul II.Who will forgive our sins? To whomwill we turn to be anointed at the timeof our death? Nobody else but thepriest. Many Catholics seem to bediscouraged by theshortage of priestsin many places, and this leadsthem to stop practicing their faith. Although this affirmation has some truth;it [shortage of priests] should not be acause for discouragement; on the contrary, our love and fidelity to thechurch should encourage us to continue supporting priestly vocations withour effort, prayers and generosity. Today many parents see great potential intheir children to succeed in the world, but that vision at times clouded oursupport when a young person in ourfamily contemplates following the pathof priesthood. We should not be afraidto present our children and otheryoung people the great adventure offollowing Christ. In the meantime, letus pray that the Lord continues to sendmore workers to his mercy. HappySunday to all!Fr. Mariano Varela, IVELiturgy CornerWorld Day of Prayer is observed on Sunday, April 25, 2021 also known as “Good Shepherd Sunday.” Thepurpose of this day is to publicly fulfill the Lord’s instruction to, “Pray the Lord of the harvest to send laborers into his harvest” (Mt 9:38; Lk 10:2). Please pray that young men and women hear and respond generously to the Lord’s call to the priesthood, diaconate, religious life, societies of apostolic life or secular institutes.O God, Father of all Mercies,Provider of a bountiful Harvest, send Your Graces upon thoseYou have called to gather the fruits of Your labor;preserve and strengthen them in their lifelong service of you.Open the hearts of Your childrenthat they may discern Your Holy Will;inspire in them a love and desire to surrender themselvesto serving others in the name of Your son, Jesus Christ.Teach all Your faithful to follow their respective paths in lifeguided by Your Divine Word and Truth.Through the intercession of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary, all the Angels, and Saints, humbly hear our prayersand grant Your Church's needs, through Christ, our Lord. Amen.Mary, Mother of the Church,Pray for us!

The Sacred Heart of Jesus can be traced back in the 12th century but it was only through Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque in 1673 that Jesus appeared and told her “that the love of His Heart must spread and manifest itself to men.” With the help of her confessor Saint Claude La Colombiere, the devotion to the Sacred Heart spread in
