Working With the ProductHandling and StorageGlasRoc gypsum boards should bestacked flat on a smooth, level surface, not stored directly on the ground. When spacers are used, position themclosely enough together to minimizewarpage. Care should be taken toprevent damage to edges and corners.Always keep gypsum board dry priorto installation. CertainTeed assumes no responsibility for consequentialdamages that may result from the presence of standingwater or where moisture is in direct contact with AreaSeparation Firewall system components.CuttingThe score and snap method is a fast andefficient way to cut gypsum board.Steps:1. O n the logo side, position a straightedge along the line of the intended cut.2. S core the glass mat sheet with a knifeor other suitable tool.3. W ith a quick, firm motion, snap backaway from the face.4. S core the back glass mat with a knifeor other suitable tool and then snap thepiece in the opposite direction.5. S mooth all cut ends and edges toensure tight joints.4To make cut outs, score around theperimeter on the logo side and back sideand tap out the waste piece from thelogo side. Cut outs can also be madewith a drywall saw. Gypsum boards canalso be cut with a saw. Safetyglasses should always be worn whenusing power tools.
