Any notifiable diseases as named in theAnimal Health Act 1981 or an order madeunder that Act, such as rabies. Your rabbit being used for breedingpurposes,or used in connection with anybusiness, trade, profession or occupation. Any claim if the death results from an injuryfirst occuring or showing clinical signs beforecover starts or occuring within the first 14days of the start of cover. There is no benefit available to re-imbursecremation or burial fees.Section 3 – Death from illness Death caused by an injury. Any claim if the death results from illnessfirst occurring or showing clinical signsbefore cover starts or occurring within thefirst 14 days of the start of cover. Any claim if your rabbit is aged 5 years orover at the time of death. There is no benefit available to re-imbursecremation or burial fees. Repatriation of your rabbit following itsdeath.Section 4 – Advertising and reward costs War risks, terrorism, civil commotion andradioactive contamination. Any immediate family member.Section 1 – Veterinary fees Costs resulting from an injury or illnesswhich show clinical signs or becomeotherwise known to you before your rabbit’scover started or within the first 14 days ofthe start of cover. Any costs resulting from preventative orelective treatments including, but not limitedto, vaccinations, spaying, castration,pregnancy or giving birth. Any reward to a person living with you.Section 5 – Emergency boarding fees or dailyminding Any hospitalisation that is either known orforeseeable before cover for your rabbitcommences.Section 6 – Trip cancellationor return home Any costs that in your vet’s opinion does notrelate to immediate life saving surgery.Section 2 – Death from injury Death caused by an illness. We hope thatwe will be able to resolve any complaint thatyou may have. However, if the complaint is stillnot resolved, you can approach the FinancialOmbudsman Service. Referral to the FinancialOmbudsman Service will not affect your rightto take legal action. Full details of addressesand contact numbers can be found on pages39 and 43 of the Policy Wording.Cancellation periodYou may cancel this policy at any time.If you wish to cancel within 14 days of receiptof the policy documents, you may do so inwriting to Pets at Home Pet Insurance for a fullrefund providing no claim has been made or isintended to be made and no incident likely togive rise to a claim has occurred.If you cancel after the first 14 days of receiptof the documents and have not incurredeligible claims during the period you have beenon cover we will keep an amount of premium inproportion to the time you have been on cover,any balance left over will be refunded to you.If you incur eligible claims there will be norefund of premium. It contains details of cover, conditions and exclusions relatingto your rabbit and is the basis on which all claims will be settled. It is validated by the issue of theSchedule of Insurance which must be attached to the policy.We will in the event of injury, illness, bodilyinjury, death, loss, theft, straying, damageor other specified events happening withinthe period of insurance provide insurance asdescribed in the following pages and referredto in your Schedule of Insurance.Co-insuranceThe Schedule of Insurance and anyendorsements are all part of the policy. Yourpolicy is evidence of the contract of insurance.Policy informationThe law applicable to this policyUnder European law, the parties to a contractare free to choose the law applicable to theInsurance contract. Unless specifically agreedto the contrary prior to acceptance of theapplication, this insurance is subject to Englishlaw under the jurisdiction of the courts ofEngland and Wales.Age eligibility of your rabbitThis policy is not available for any pet under8 weeks of age or for pets over the age of 4at the commencement date of the policy.Co-insurance will be deducted from thesettlement amount of each veterinary claimafter the compulsory excess has beendeducted. Where we explain what a word means, that word willappear highlighted in bold print and have the same meaning wherever it is used in the policy.We have listed the definitions alphabetically.Bodily injuryAn identifiable physical injury caused bysudden, unexpected, external and visiblemeans including injury as a result ofunavoidable exposure to the elements.Clinical sign/signsChanges in your rabbit’s normal healthy state,its bodily functions.Complementary therapistA member of one of the following organisations: Association of Chartered Physiotherapists inAnimal Therapy McTimoney Chiropractic Association National Association of VeterinaryPhysiotherapists incorporating the NationalAssociation of Animal Therapists (NAAT) The International Association of AnimalTherapists (UK)Complementary treatmentAny of the following: Acupuncture, homeopathy and herbalmedicine treatment recommended by yourvet and prescribed by a suitably qualifiedvet. Chiropractic manipulation carried out bya veterinary practice or a member of theMcTimoney Chiropractic Association orthe International Association of AnimalTherapists (UK), providing the member isa qualified animal chiropractor. Osteopathy carried out by a veterinarypractice or a member of the InternationalAssociation of Animal Therapists (UK)providing the member is a qualified animalosteopath. Physiotherapy carried out by a veterinarypractice or a member of the Association ofChartered Physiotherapists in AnimalTherapy, the International Association ofAnimal Therapists (UK) or the NationalAssociation of Veterinary Physiotherapistsincorporating the National Associationof Animal Therapists (NAAT) providingthe member is a qualified animalphysiotherapist.ConditionAny clinical sign of injury or illness in yourrabbit. Recurring and/or ongoing conditionsshall be considered as one loss. Suchconditions being defined as:a) clinical manifestations resulting in thesame diagnosis (regardless of the numberof incidents or areas of the body affected)to which your rabbit has an ongoingpredisposition or susceptibility related in anyway to the original claim; or,b) Conditions which are incurable and likelyto continue for the remainder of yourrabbit’s life.Co-insuranceThe amount you are required to pay towardsthe costs of the veterinary fees. This amountwill be deducted from the claims settlement.ExcessThe amount you are required to pay as the firstpart of certain claims made under the policy.8

Pets at Home - Pet Insurance PolicyGeneral conditions applicable to the whole policyGeneral conditions applicable to the whole policyYou must comply with the following conditions to have the full protection of your policy.If you do not comply we may at our option cancel the policy or refuse to deal with your claim orreduce the amount of any claim payment.PrecautionsYearly Dental Examination:Throughout any period of insurance you mustlook after your rabbit’s health and maintainyour rabbit’s health to avoid injury, illness,bodily injury, death, loss, theft, straying,damage or destruction. In addition you mustarrange and pay for your rabbit to have ayearly dental examination and arrange for anytreatment normally recommended by a vet toprevent or reduce the risk of injury or illness.You must arrange and pay for your Rabbit tohave a yearly dental examination. You mustalso arrange for any treatment recommendedby your vet to be completed to prevent orreduce the risk of injury or illness.Consumer Insurance (Disclosure andRepresentations) Act 2012In entering into this contract you are under aduty to take all reasonable care in answeringall questions in relation to this insurancehonestly and to the best of your knowledge.This includes anything that appears withinyour Schedule of Insurance as well as anyinformation relating to your pet’s medicalhistory. Your failure to take reasonable careto avoid misrepresentation in relation to theinformation provided could result in yourpolicy being cancelled or your claim beingrejected or not fully paid.If you are in any doubt about your dutyto take reasonable care not to make amisrepresentation please contact our CustomerServices Department on 0800 011 1910VaccinationsYou must ensure that your rabbit is vaccinatedin accordance with the recommendationof your vet against Myxomatosis and ViralHaemorrhagic Disease. Any conditionsarising from or exacerbated as a result of notvaccinating your Rabbit will be excludedfrom your rabbits insurance cover.10OwnershipYou must be the owner of the rabbit.Your cover will cease immediately if yourrabbit is sold.Treatment detailsYou agree that any vet that has treated yourrabbit has your permission to release anyinformation that we might request concerningyour insurance. Any charge for the releaseof this information will be your responsibility.Renewal termsWhen we need to offer further periods ofinsurance, we may change the premium andthe policy terms and conditions as your rabbitgets older and to allow for future increases intreatment costs.Data consentBy accepting the policy terms you are givingus permission to obtain information from yourvet or specialist to assist us with your claim.You agree to obtain any documents that werequire to assess your claim from your vet,specialist or third party that we request atyour own expense.

If you pay by instalmentsyou will either have to continue with theinstalment payments until the policy renewaldate or we may, at our discretion, deduct theoutstanding instalments from any claimpayment made.Cancellation by UsWe can cancel this policy if there are seriousgrounds to do so, for example You have deliberately or recklesslymisrepresented the information provided inconnection with this insurance; or You have failed to supply requesteddocumentation (for example veterinaryevidence or certificates).We will do this by giving you 7 days’ notice inwriting to your last address notified to us.Any premium refund will be calculated inaccordance with the conditions above except inthe event of fraud or any attempted fraud whichwill mean that all premiums are retained by us.Non Payment of Premium dueIn the event of non payment of premium whendue we will write to you within 14 days toadvise that payment has been missed shouldpayment remain outstanding after this date wewill cancel the policy with seven days notice asdescribed above.11

Alternatively, you can download a claimform from www.petsathomeinsurance.comThe claim notification must be made within60 days or as soon as possible thereafterfollowing any injury, illness, bodily injury,death, disease or the discovery of any losswhich may lead to a claim under this policy.Claim form completionWe cannot guarantee payment of a claim overthe telephone. If you want to make a claim youmust complete your sections of the claim formand for veterinary fees, arrange for your vet tofill in their part and return to us within 60 daysof the rabbit receiving the treatment or assoon as possible thereafter. You will beresponsible for any costs charged for thecompletion of the form. If all or part of yourclaim cannot be paid we will tell you in writing.Signs of injury or illnessYou or your legal representatives must supplyat your own expense all information, evidence,details of any other insurance policy involved(such as household insurance) and veterinarycertificates as required by us. You should referto the section under which you are claiming forfurther details of the evidence that we need todeal with your claim.You must arrange for a vet to examine andtreat your rabbit as soon as possible after itshows clinical signs of an injury or illness.If we can see evidence in your pet’s clinicalhistory that there has been any delay inarranging veterinary treatment we will referthe case to an independent vet. If it canbe established that the delay in arrangingtreatment has or is likely to result in additionalcosts or expenses being incurred we reservethe right to either refuse to admit the claimor make a deduction from any settlement toreflect these increased costs or expenses.We may request and will pay for a postmortemexamination of your rabbit.Policyholders who are veterinary surgeonsor staff.We may refuse to reimburse you for anyexpenses for which you cannot provide receiptsor bills.If you are a veterinary surgeon you may treatyour own pet but another vet must countersignthe claim form confirming the treatment hasgone ahead. The same applies if you are avet nurse, you cannot complete your ownclaim form.Subrogation (transferring of rights)We are entitled to take over any rights in thedefence or settlement of any claim and to takeproceedings in your name for our benefitagainst any other party.12

Pets at Home - Pet Insurance PolicyClaims conditionsFraudPayments in errorYou must not act in a fraudulent manner.If a claim is paid in error you agree to returnany monies paid to you back to us.If you or anyone acting for you:Dual insurancea) make a claim under the policy knowing theclaim to be false or fraudulently exaggeratedin any respect; or,b) make a statement in support of a claimknowing the statement to be false in anyrespect; or,If at the time of any incident which resultsin a claim under this policy, there is anotherinsurance policy covering injury, death, or loss,we will not pay more than our proportionalshare.c) submit a document in support of a claimknowing the document to be forged or falsein any respect; or,d) make a claim in respect of any loss ordamage caused by your wilful act or withyour connivanceThen:a) we shall not pay the claimb) we shall not pay any other claim which hasbeen or will be made under the policyc) we may at our option declare the policy voidd) we shall be entitled to recover from you theamount of any claim already paid under thepolicye) we shall not make any return of premiumf) we may inform the Police and otherorganisations of the circumstances.13

Pets at Home - Pet Insurance PolicyGeneral exclusions applicable to all sections of the policyGeneral exclusions applicable to all sections of the policyWe will not pay for claims arising directly orindirectly from:Age of your rabbitYour rabbit being under 8 weeks of age.Pre-existing conditionsAn illness or injury that first showed clinicalsigns prior to or within 14 days of your rabbit’scover starting, or;Breeding or other usesYour rabbit being used for breeding purposes,or used in connection with any business, trade,profession or occupation.Health or importation regulationsYou breaking the United Kingdom or Republicof Ireland laws, or regulations, including thoserelating to animal health or importation.Restrictions an illness or injury that is the same as,or has the same diagnosis or clinicalsigns as an illness or injury that firstshowed clinical signs prior to or within14 days of your rabbit’s cover starting, or;The Department for Environment, Food andRural Affairs (DEFRA) or the Department ofAgriculture, Food and Rural Development inthe Republic of Ireland putting any restrictionson your rabbit. an illness or injury that is caused by,relates to or results from a clinical sign thatwas first noticed, or an illness or injury thatfirst showed clinical signs prior to or within14 days of your rabbit’s cover starting;Illness contracted overseasno matter where the illness, injury or clinical signsare noticed or happen in, or on your rabbit’s body.Legal expenses, fines and penaltiesWar risks and civil commotionWar, invasion, acts of foreign enemies,hostilities or warlike operations (whetherwar be declared or not), civil war, rebellion,terrorism, riot, revolution, insurrection,civil commotion assuming the proportionsof or amounting to an uprising, military orusurped power.Radioactive contaminationIonising radiation or contamination byradioactivity from any nuclear fuel or from anynuclear waste, from combustion of nuclearfuel, the radioactive, toxic, explosive or otherhazardous properties of any nuclear assemblyor nuclear component of such assembly.Notifiable diseasesAny notifiable disease as named in the AnimalHealth Act 1981 or an Order made under thatAct, such as rabies.14Any illness that your rabbit contracted whileoutside the United Kingdom that it wouldnot normally have contracted in the UnitedKingdom.Legal expenses, fines and penalties connectedwith or resulting from a Criminal Court Caseor an Act of Parliament made in the UnitedKingdom.Non payment of premiumsIf you do not keep your premiums paid and upto date, we will not pay any claims and yourpolicy will be cancelled.Claims after the expiry or cancellation of thepolicyAny loss or costs relating to your rabbit afteryour Pet Insurance has either been cancelledor expired.Deliberate actsAny loss damage or liability resulting from adeliberate act by you or any person lookingafter your pet with your permission orknowledge.

The excess and co-insurance shown onthe Schedule of insurance.We will pay for all customary charges madefor treatment your rabbit receives in theperiod of insurance, for an injury or illness,carried out by a vet.Vet fee cover is provided per period ofinsurance for treatment of all injuries andillnesses. Continuous treatment is subjectto the policy remaining in force, beingcontinuously renewed at each anniversary andpremiums received on the due date. In thatevent we will reinstate the cover and ongoingconditions will continue to be covered up tothe insured limit for the subsequent period ofinsurance.Policy limits are specified on your Scheduleof Insurance.2. Any cost of treatment that exceedsthe vet fees cover limit shown on yourSchedule of Insurance per period ofinsurance under Premier policies.3. The cost of any treatment received byyour rabbit after the policy has cancelled/expired.4. The cost of any treatment for:a)an injury that happened or an illnessthat first showed clinical signs priorto or within the first 14 days of yourrabbit’s cover started; or,b)an injury or illness that is the sameas, or has the same diagnosis orclinical signs as an injury, illnessor clinical sign your rabbit had priorto or within the first 14 days of yourrabbit’s cover starting;c)an injury or illness that is caused by,relates to or results from an injury,illness or clinical sign your rabbithad prior to or within the first 14days of your rabbit’s cover starting,no matter where the injury, illness orclinical signs are noticed or happenin, or on your rabbit’s body.5. Any claim for veterinary treatmentoutside the United Kingdom.15
