www.byjusexamprep.comRemember: A smart and accurate syllabus not only lays down what you have to study but alsopoints out the topics that could be excluded. The updated syllabus of CLAT has eliminated a lot of topics from the English section, which has resulted in shrinking of the boundaries of its syllabus, however, the depth oftopics that are still covered under its syllabus has considerably enhanced.Below is the list of topics which have been eliminated from the new syllabus of CLAT 2022:1.2.3.4.5.6.7.Sentence-correctionCloze TestFill in the blanksPhrase replacementError spottingSentence sequential arrangementChoose the correct sentence.2. Current Affairs including General Knowledge: This section will also include passages of around 450 words related to any national orinternational news, major historical or contemporary events etc.The passages will be primarily derived from Journalistic sources (like newspapers andmagazines) and other non-fictional writing.Every passage will be followed by 3-5 questions. The questions may be direct as well asindirect.Indirect questions mean, that the information sought in the question is not explicitlydiscussed in the passage, but is somehow related to the topic of the passage (for e.g.additional information asked about the subject of the passage).Topics National & International AffairsSchemesScience & TechnologySummits & ConferencesSportsAwards & HonoursArts & CultureImportant Historical Events3

Legal Reasoning: The legal reasoning section will consist of passage-based questions. The section will include passages of around 350-500 words, from which, a series of 3 to5 questions per passage will be asked. The passages will relate to any static or currenttopic/news related to the field of law. Some of the most favourite topics, likely to be covered under this section are: Important Supreme Court Judgments;Important and recent acts and amendments of the legislature;Important topics from Contract law, Criminal law, tort law and Constitutional law;Legal GK and current affairs;International treaties and conventions affecting national legal framework etc.Note: It should be noted that the only major alteration carved out in this section is that thepassages have come in the place of principles. So, basically, the Principle-fact questionshave been converted to Passage-fact questions, which has made them more lengthy andtime-consuming.This section doesn’t require any prior knowledge of Law. Its sole aim is to testyour judgment ability. In this section the examinee is required to: Identify and infer the principles/rules set out in the passage;Apply such principles to various facts given in the questions (which may be real orhypothetical)Understand how changes to the rules or principles may alter their application to variousfact situations.4. Logical Reasoning: There are no visible changes in the syllabus of this section in CLAT. This section willinclude a series of short passages of around 300 words that will be followed by one ormore questions related to your logical reasoning ability. Questions related to verbalreasoning will constitute a major portion of this section. This section will require you to: Recognise an argument, its premise and conclusion;Read and identify the arguments set out in the passage;Critically analyse patterns of reasoning, and assess how conclusion may depend on aparticular premise or evidence;Infer what follows from the passage and apply these inferences to new situations;Draw relationship and analogies, identify contradictions and equivalence and assess theeffectiveness of arguments.4Syllogism

You are required to derive, infer and manipulate numerical information set out in the passages, graphs or otherrepresentations. The syllabus of this section is too narrow. Most of the questions will be asked on the basis of Charts, bars, and other graphicalrepresentations.Pie Chart,Bar GraphLine GraphTable ChartMixed GraphsCaselet D.I.
