There’s excitement building in the library as we count down toBook Week! Our theme for this year is Curious Creatures, Wild Minds. Book Week is usually celebrated in August, however this year ithad to be postponed. Tacoma will celebrate Book Week in Week 4 of next term (2 nd – 6th November). We have lots of activities planned to celebrate literacy and our love of books. Unfortunately, some of our activities will have to be modifiedthis year but we will still have a fantastic week.Beginning Monday 2nd until Thursday 5th November, we will have our Scholastic Book Fair. It will include a great range ofbooks, posters and the very popular stationery items. The fair will be available for students to view during class librarytime, with students assisted in completing wish lists to take home. As parents are not permitted on school grounds, bookswill be available to view and purchase online. Consider purchasing a book for your child for Christmas, books are a greatstocking stuffer! We can arrange for books purchased as Christmas presents to be handed to parents directly. More detailswill be available at a later date. Remember that all purchases at the Book Fair earn reward points for our school to purchase new books for our students. Our goal this year is to purchase new atlases for our students with our Book Fair rewards. Your support is very much appreciated! The Premier’s Reading Challenge involves reading a number of specially selected books between March and August. OurK-2 students complete the challenge in class, however our years 3-6 students are required to complete the challengethemselves. It is not a competition but a challenge to encourage students to read, to read more and to read a wide rangeof books. Last year Tacoma had 4 students in years 3-6 complete the challenge. This year we have had 51 sensational students complete the Premier’s Reading Challenge WOW!! I am so impressed, congratulations to all! A special mention toGundang and Balba for their enthusiasm and friendly rivalry. Balba was able to claim the title as the class with the mostcompleted students. On Friday 6th November we will have a celebration lunch for our Year 3-6 students who have completed the 2020 Premier’s Reading Challenge (more details will be provided next term).Congratulations to:Tyler, Coopa, Tamsyn, Matthew, Dylan, Kye P, Doha, Ben R, Kyan, Lyla W, Alex, Eliza, Isabella, Brayden, Madison, Lincon,Oshini, Amira, Issabelle, Jaxon, Connor, India, Liam S, Thomas W, Lyla W, Lucas B, Taylah, Maison, William C, Melinda, Jasmine, Sibulele, Zali, Diesel, Tess, Cameron P, Tamara, Summer, Sienna V, Finn, Elliott, Kane, Chase H, Kye H, Thandiwe,Kiana, Matilda, Katrina, Soha, Caleb S, and Maddison. Also on Friday 6th November is our Book Parade, mark that date in your diary! Although adventure tourism is recognized as an important, growing tourism segment, primary research to quantify the size and scope of this market in the U.S. or internationally (Schneider 2006) has been lacking. For this reason, George Washington University, along with its partners, the Adventure Travel Trade Associ-ation (ATTA) and Xola Consulting, sought to better understand the adventure .
