Dear Friends,Happy 2014 to all of you! As we reflect on the past year and prayerfully lookahead to 2014, I am happy to share with you the goals of our new strategicplan “Building Bridges to the Future.” This plan sets forth our prioritiesfor serving children, families, seniors, refugees, immigrants and others.Thank you to everyone who participated in our strategic planningprocess through surveys, interviews and listening sessions. Based onyour feedback, our analysis of poverty, demographics, service needsand gaps, the Board of Directors approved the 5 strategic goals. During2014-17, Catholic Charities will be guided by the following goals.Catholic Charities will provide quality and compassionate services that are aligned with ourmission and core competencies. We will attend to the physical, mental and spiritual needs ofthose we serve as we promote the sanctity of life and the dignity of the human person.Catholic Charities will develop and implement a unified case management model throughoutagency programs. We will base our model on best practices and strive to not only alleviatepoverty but also help our clients build self sufficiency.Catholic Charities will work to strengthen our partnership with parishes, Catholic ministries andother community organizations in order to meet increased needs in our Archdiocese and toeffectively advocate for the social justice priorities of the Texas Bishops.Catholic Charities will maintain excellence in fundraising and fiscal management with dedicationto accountability and transparency. We are committed to extending our Four-Star CharityNavigator Rating through 2017 and beyond.Catholic Charities will recruit, train and support an engaged and quality workforce and avolunteer base who work together to help us achieve our mission and vision. As you read the papers, reports and the news, you know that the populationis increasing, that there are more people in poverty today than 5 years ago, that the senior population is growing as the baby boomer generation ages intoretirement, and that many families are challenged to find affordable housing, medical care and jobs that can sustain their families. We see them everydayat Catholic Charities and I know you serve them through parish programsas well. Together, we can make a difference as Pope Francis and CardinalDiNardo encourage us to do. May God bless all of you this year and mayGod continue to bless the work and the ministry of Catholic Charities.2CATHOLICCHARITIES.OR GIn Christ’s Peace,Cynthia N. Colbert, MSWPRESIDENT/CEO
