Once upon a time there was a little boy,a Little Prince. He was from a differentplanet. He was from Asteroid B-612.The Little Prince was the only person onhis planet. He was lonely. There were nopeople on his planet, so he had nofriends. There was no one to talk to, sothe Little Prince lived in silence.2

His planet was very small. There was nospace for trees. One time, trees took overhis planet. The planet was too small for theenormous trees! It took a lot of time, but the Little Princepulled up the trees. It was a lot of work fora little boy. The Little Prince worked a lot.He loved his planet. He felt responsible forit.3Day after day, the Little Prince worked. Itwas hard work. One day, he saw a plant. It was not anordinary plant. It was special. The plant wasgraceful and elegant. The Little Prince was fascinated by itsbrilliant color: red. It was different from allthe other plants. It was a rose.4

The Prince was curious so he went up to therose. He wanted to admire its red petals. Headmired it’s beautiful smell.Suddenly, the rose said “hello.” The LittlePrince was very surprised! This rose wasvery special. It was able to talk. The LittlePrince was very happy. Quickly, he said,"Hello! My name is Little Prince. I am aboy. Who are you? ""I am a rose,” she replied.5The Little Prince talked and talked with theRose. He spent a lot of time with the Rose.He liked their conversations. Finally, theLittle Prince had a friend! The Little Princewas very happy. But the Rose was not happy. One day, it wasvery hot. Rose said, "I'm hot!”Quickly, the Little Prince gave the Rosesome water. She did not say “Thank you.”6

Day after day, the Little Prince had longconversations with the Rose. In the past, theRose had a difficult life. She was tormentedand attacked. The Little Prince took pity on the Rose. Hesaid to himself, “Oh no! This plant isdelicate. I am responsible for it. She is veryspecial.”The Little Prince worked hard to make hisRose comfortable. He gave the Rose his fullattention.7One day, the Rose said, "I'm notcomfortable.”“Oh no,” said the Little Prince. “Are youhot?”“No, I'm cold. The air is frigid,” said theRose. Then, she coughed intentionally. Shewanted the Little Prince's attention. The Little Prince thought for a minute. Thenhe had an idea. He gave the Rose a screen. He said, "Here's a screen. With the screen, you will be comfortable. It will block thecold air.”8

But the Rose was not satisfied. The Rose said to the Little Prince, "I amvery, very cold. I have a cough!" Shecoughed intentionally. The Little Prince tookpity on the delicate rose.Quickly, he had another idea. He gave theRose a glass dome. The dome gave the Rosea lot of protection. Yet, the Rose was notsatisfied. She coughed a lot. She was notcomfortable.9The Little Prince had another idea. He wentto a volcano. The volcano was hot. It waslike a small chimney. The Little Prince stirred the volcano. Thesmall volcano warmed the Rose. Finally, the temperature was perfect. The Rose wasnot hot; she was not cold. She was a verycomfortable temperature. But the Rose pretended to beuncomfortable. She coughed and coughed.10

The Little Prince was frustrated. He hadgiven the Rose a screen and a dome. He gavethe Rose water. He talked with the Rose. Hegave the Rose all his attention.11Yet, he was not able to satisfy the Rose. Shewas never satisfied. The Little Prince said tohimself, “To love a rose is not easy.”The Little Prince left the planet. He visitedmany other planets. On the other planets, the Little Prince had many adventures. One day, The Little Prince made a saddecision. He decided to leave the Rose. Hewas very sad. He loved his Rose, but shemade the Little Prince sad. There were many distractions, but theLittle Prince kept thinking about the Rose.He liked his adventures, but he loved hisRose.12

The Little Prince arrived at many planets.Eventually, he arrived on a big planet,Earth. The Little Prince was in Africa. Infact, he was in the Sahara Desert. In theSahara, it was very hot and there was nowater. The Little Prince was surprised at how hotit was. He thought, “Oh dear, it is so hot onthis planet. My Rose would not like thisplanet at all!”13The Little Prince looked and looked forwater to drink. He looked a long time. TheLittle Prince was soon very sad. He thought,“I do not like this sad, hot Earth. I like myplanet and my Rose much more.”The Earth was very different from hisplanet. In the Sahara, there were not manyplants. The Little Prince loved his plants.Above all, he loved his Rose. He lookedaround the Sahara, and he thought abouthow special his Rose was.14

Suddenly, the Little Prince saw an animal.Surprised, he said, “Hello! I am the LittlePrince. Who are you?”“I'm a snake. Have you never seen a snake?”said the animal.“No, there are no snakes on my planet,” heexplained. “I am from Asteroid B-612.”The Little Prince talked about his planet. The snake was fascinated. He liked talkingwith the Little Prince.15The snake took pity on the boy. He said, “Ilike you, Little Prince. I will not touch you.not yet. But if you decide to leave thisplanet, I will help you.”The Little Prince said goodbye to the snake. He continued to explore. He saw manyinteresting things.Suddenly, the Little Prince arrived at anoasis. There, in the oasis, the Little Princewas very surprised! There were many, manyroses. The roses were identical to the LittlePrince’s Rose.16

The Little Prince said to himself, “Here are amillion roses! My rose is not special.” TheLittle Prince was very sad.At that moment, the Little Prince saw ananimal in the distance. The animal was redlike the Rose. Curious, he said, “Hello! Whoare you?”The animal said, “I am a fox.” The fox wasvery intelligent. Quickly, he saw that theLittle Prince was sad. “What is the problem, little one?”The Little Prince said sadly, “I thought myRose was special, but she is not special. There are a million roses here on the Earth.”17The fox said, “You love your Rose, so she isspecial for you.”The Little Prince loved his rose, but it wascomplicated. He said, "I love my Rose. I try tomake her happy, but she was never satisfied.”The intelligent fox said, “Yes, loving a rose isa great responsibility. When you love a rose, you are responsible for it.”18

The Little Prince spent a lot of time with theFox. He thought about his words. Hethought, "I love my Rose, so I'm responsiblefor my Rose.” So, the Little Prince decided toreturn to his planet. One day, the Little Prince said, "I decided toleave Earth. I'm returning to my planet.”The Fox was sad, but it was a good decision. He said, “Yes, go to your Rose. It’s veryimportant. It's essential.”“Essential? What does 'essential' mean?”said the boy.19“What is essential is invisible. You can’t seeit with your eyes. You can only see it withyour heart,” said the Fox. The Fox had asincere heart.Sadly, the Little Prince said goodbye. Hewent looking for a way to return to hisplanet. The Asteroid B-612 was a long wayfrom Earth. He had no way to go back to hisplanet. The Little Prince thought about his planetand his Rose. He was very sad. Suddenly, avoice said, "Hello, Little Prince.”20

The Little Prince was very surprised. Then,he saw the snake. He liked the snake, andthe snake liked the Little Prince.21The Little Prince said, “Yes, and I want toleave this planet. I want to return to myplanet. I love my Rose, and I'm responsiblefor her.”The boy said, "Hello, Snake. I'm happy tosee you. I was a little sad. I want to go backto my planet."The snake said, “If you want to leave thisplanet, I'll help you.”For a minute, the snake thought about theproblem. The boy was very sad. So the snaketold him, "Life on this planet is difficult."The Little Prince accepted. He approachedthe snake. Then he fell. The Little Princeleft the Earth.22
