It is the responsibility of the owner to ensurethat all users of this treadmill are adequatelyinformed of all warnings and precautions.12. Plug the power cord into a surge suppressor(not included), and plug the surge suppressor into an appropriate outlet (see page 22).To avoid overloading the circuit, do not plugother electrical devices, except for low-powerdevices such as cell phone chargers, intothe surge suppressor or into an outlet on thesame circuit.2. Before beginning any exercise program,consult your physician. This is especiallyimportant for persons over age 35 or personswith pre-existing health problems.3. Use the treadmill only as described in thismanual.13. Use only a surge suppressor that meets all ofthe specifications described on page 22. Topurchase a surge suppressor, see your localNORDICTRACK dealer, call the telephonenumber on the front cover of this manual, orsee your local electronics store.4. The treadmill is intended for home use only.Do not use the treadmill in any commercial,rental, or institutional setting.5. Keep the treadmill indoors, away from moisture and dust. Do not put the treadmill in agarage or covered patio, or near water.14. Failure to use a properly functioning surgesuppressor could result in damage to thecontrol system of the treadmill. If the controlsystem is damaged, the walking belt mayslow, accelerate, or stop unexpectedly, whichmay result in a fall and serious injury.6. Place the treadmill on a level surface, withat least 8 ft. (2.4 m) of clearance behind itand 2 ft. (0.6 m) on each side. Do not placethe treadmill on any surface that blocks airopenings. To protect the floor or carpet fromdamage, place a mat under the treadmill.15. Keep the power cord and the surge suppressor away from heated surfaces.16. Never move the walking belt while the poweris turned off. Do not operate the treadmillif the power cord or plug is damaged, or ifthe treadmill is not working properly. (SeeMAINTENANCE AND TROUBLESHOOTINGon page 40 if the treadmill is not workingproperly.)7. Do not operate the treadmill where aerosolproducts are used or where oxygen is beingadministered.8. Keep children under age 12 and pets awayfrom the treadmill at all times.9. The treadmill should be used only by persons weighing 400 lbs. (181 kg) or less.17. Read, understand, and test the emergencystop procedure before using the treadmill(see HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER onpage 24). Always wear the clip while using thetreadmill.10. Never allow more than one person on thetreadmill at a time.11. Wear appropriate exercise clothes whileusing the treadmill. Do not wear looseclothes that could become caught in thetreadmill. Athletic support clothes are recommended for both men and women. Alwayswear athletic shoes. Never use the treadmillwith bare feet, wearing only stockings, or insandals.18. Always stand on the foot rails when startingor stopping the walking belt. Always hold thehandrails while using the treadmill.19. Keep fingers, hair, and clothing away fromthe moving walking belt.3

28. Over exercising may result in serious injuryor death. If you feel faint, if you become shortof breath, or if you experience pain whileexercising, stop immediately and cool down.20. The treadmill is capable of high speeds.Adjust the speed in small increments toavoid sudden jumps in speed.The heart ratemonitor is not a medical device. Variousfactors, including the user’s movement, mayaffect the accuracy of heart rate readings.The heart rate monitor is intended only as anexercise aid in determining heart rate trendsin general.29. Do not store the television in temperaturesbelow -40 F (-40 C) or above 140 F (60 C).Do not operate the television in temperaturesbelow 23 F (-5 C) or above 90 F (32 C).21. Never leave the treadmill unattended whileit is running. Always remove the key, pressthe power switch into the off position (seethe drawing on page 8 for the location of thepower switch), and unplug the power cordwhen the treadmill is not in use.30. To protect the treadmill and television during lightning storms, unplug the power cordfrom the wall outlet and disconnect the cablesystem. This will prevent damage due tolightning and power line surges.31. If an outside antenna or cable system isconnected, make sure that the antenna orcable system is grounded to provide someprotection against voltage surges and builtup static charges. Section 810 of the NationalElectrical Code, ANSI/NFPA No. 70-1984, oryour local codes and ordinances provideinformation with respect to proper grounding of the mast and supporting structure,grounding of the lead-in wire to an antennadischarge unit, size of grounding conductors, location of antenna discharge unit,connection to grounding electrodes, andrequirements for the grounding electrode.22. Do not attempt to move the treadmill untilit is properly assembled. (See ASSEMBLYon page 10 and HOW TO FOLD AND MOVETHE TREADMILL on page 39.) You must beable to safely lift 45 lbs. (20 kg) to move thetreadmill.23. When folding or moving the treadmill, makesure that the storage latch is holding theframe securely in the storage position.24. Do not change the incline of the treadmill byplacing objects under the treadmill.25. Never insert any object into any opening onthe treadmill.32. An outside antenna system should not belocated in the vicinity of overhead powerlines or other electric light or power circuits,or where it can fall into such power lines orcircuits. When installing an outside antennasystem, use extreme care to keep fromtouching such power lines or circuits, ascontact with them might be fatal.26. Inspect and properly tighten all parts of thetreadmill regularly.27.DANGER:Always unplug the powercord immediately after use, before cleaning the treadmill, and before performing themaintenance and adjustment proceduresdescribed in this manual. Never remove themotor hood unless instructed to do so by anauthorized service representative. Servicingother than the procedures in this manualshould be performed by an authorized service representative only.33. To reduce the risk of electric shock, do notremove the cover or the back of the television. There are no user serviceable partsinside. Refer servicing to qualified servicepersonnel.4

34. Upon completion of any service or repairs tothe treadmill or the television, ask the service technician to perform safety checks toconfirm that the unit is in proper operatingcondition.38. Use a jumper wire not smaller than No. 6AWG (13.3 mm2) copper, or the equivalent,when a separate antenna-grounding electrode is used. See NEC Section 810-21 (j) oryour local codes and ordinances.35. Use No. 10 AWG (5.3 mm2) copper, No. 8 AWG(8.4 mm2) aluminum, No. 17 AWG (1.0 mm2)copper-clad steel or bronze wire, or larger asa ground wire.39. Note to CATV system installer: This reminderis provided to call the CATV system installer’s attention to Article 820-40 of the NEC oryour local codes and ordinances that provideguidelines for proper grounding and, in particular, specifies that the cable ground shallbe connected to the grounding system of thebuilding, as close to the point of cable entryas practical.36. Secure an antenna lead-in and ground wiresto the house with stand-off insulators spacedfrom 4 to 6 feet (1.22 to 1.83 m) apart.37. ASSEMBLY Assembly requires two persons. To identify small parts, see page 9. Place all parts in a cleared area and remove thepacking materials. Do not dispose of the packingmaterials until you finish all assembly steps. 3. Insert the fan wire (A) into the left Upright (84).3Slide the Left Base Cover (89) onto the leftUpright (84), and slide the Right Base Cover(90) onto the right Upright. Tip: You may needto use a flat screwdriver to pull the Left BaseCover away from the left Upright so that theLeft Base Cover will slide over the weldedplate (B). 5. Identify the #8 x 3/4" Screws (5). IMPORTANT:Do not confuse the #8 x 3/4" Screws with the#8 x 3/4" Truss Head Screws (24). The #8 x3/4" Truss Head Screws have flatter heads.579Attach the Tray (79) to the left and right TrayBrackets (76) with four #8 x 3/4" Screws (5).Start all four Screws, and then tighten them.Make sure that no wires are pinched.767655Front View6. Connect the two fan wires. The connectorsshould slide together easily and snap intoplace. If they do not, turn one connector and tryagain. 8. Set the console assembly (E) face down ona soft surface to avoid scratching the consoleassembly.8E Remove and discard the four indicated screws(F). Then, remove the Pulse Crossbar (80).F80F9. 10. With the help of a second person, hold the console assembly (E) near the Handrails (74).10 See the inset drawing. Connect the UprightWire (83) to the console wire (G). The connectors should slide together easily and snapinto place. If they do not, turn one connectorand try again. IF YOU DO NOT CONNECT THECONNECTORS PROPERLY, THE CONSOLEMAY BECOME DAMAGED WHEN YOU TURNON THE POWER.ENext, connect the two fan wires (not shown) onthe left side.83G74G8311. Raise the Frame (52) to the position shown.Have a second person hold the Frame untilstep 15 is completed.14HOrient the Storage Latch (56) so that the decal isfacing away from the treadmill as shown.52Attach the lower end of the Storage Latch (56) tothe bracket on the base of the Upright (84) with a5/16" x 1 3/4" Bolt (3) and a 5/16" Nut (9).56DecalRaise the Storage Latch (56) to a vertical position. Then, remove and discard the tie (H).915. Align the upper end of the Storage Latch (56)with the bracket on the Frame (52). Insert a5/16" x 2 1/4" Bolt (4) through the bracket. Connect the two wires on theTV assembly to the two wires on the consoleassembly. Insert the excess wires and cable intothe console assembly.EWiresKK120. If there are sheets of plasticon the treadmill decals, remove the plastic. To protect the floor or carpet, place a mat under the treadmill. Toavoid damage to the console, keep the treadmill out of direct sunlight. Keep the included hex keys in a secureplace; one of the hex keys is used to adjust the walking belt (see pages 41 and 42). Note: Extra parts may beincluded.18

Before operating the TV, you must connect an antenna or a 75 ohm CATV cable to the 75 ohm terminal,an AV cable to the audio/video input jack, or an HDMI cable to the HDMI input jack. Note: Use a CATV cableto connect to an external source such as a cable box, satellite TV box, VCR, or analog cable. THE CHEST HEART RATE MONITORHOW TO PUT ON THE HEART RATE MONITORThe heart ratemonitor consists ofa chest strap and asensor. Insert thetab on one end ofthe chest strap intothe hole in one endof the sensor asshown. Then, pressthe end of the sensor under the buckleon the chest strap.The tab should beflush with the front ofthe sensor.Tabs Do not expose the heart rate monitor to direct sunlight for extended periods of time; do not expose it totemperatures above 122 F (50 C) or below 14 F(-10 C).ChestStrap Do not excessively bend or stretch the sensor whenusing or storing the heart rate monitor.Sensor To clean the sensor, use a damp cloth and a smallamount of mild soap. If there is a battery cover on the back of the sensor,replace the battery with a new battery of the sametype.Pull the sensor away from your body a few inches andlocate the two electrode areas, which are covered byshallow ridges. Using saline solution such as saliva orcontact lens solution, wet the electrode areas. Then,return the sensor to a position against your chest. The heart rate monitor is designed to work withpeople who have normal heart rhythms. Heart ratereading problems may be caused by medical conditions such as premature ventricular contractions(pvcs), tachycardia bursts, and arrhythmia.CARE AND MAINTENANCE The operation of the heart rate monitor can beaffected by magnetic interference from high powerlines or other sources. If you suspect that magneticinterference is causing a problem, try relocating thefitness equipment. Thoroughly dry the sensor with a soft towel aftereach use. Moisture may keep the sensor activated,shortening the life of the battery. Store the heart rate monitor in a warm, dry place. Donot store the heart rate monitor in a plastic bag orother container that may trap moisture.21
