FFA STUDENT HANDBOOKSENDS 45 YEARPARTNERSHIP WITH NDFARM CREDIT SERVICESNEW LEIPZIG ANDTAYLOR COMMUNITIESTO RECEIVE VITALGRAIN BIN RESCUE UNITAND TRAININGThe fire departments in New Leipzig and Taylorare scheduled to receive grain bin rescueequipment and training through a donation from FarmCredit Services of Mandan.Farm Credit Services is donating a 10-panel potentiallylife-saving system manufactured by Minnesota-basedOutstate Data. The equipment is designed by rescuersspecifically for grain bin entrapments.“Tragically, we have had quite a few producers gettrapped. To date, we have had 40 successful rescues.Among these are customers of Farm Credit Services.We’ve had the opportunity to talk to survivors andrescuers alike, which we’ve used to upgrade our trainingprogram. Our goal remains to provide the bestequipment and training possible.” said Dale Ekdahl,owner and trainer for Outstate Data.Volunteers from area fire, rescue, and ambulance crewswill attend the hands-on, real-life training on October 24in Taylor, and on October 25 in New Leipzig.Even as the overall rate of serious injuries and fatalities onfarm has fallen, the number of grain bin entrapmentsremains steady.
