Installing Data Integration Management in Silent ModeWhen you install Data Integration Management in silent mode, the installer retrieves theinstallation properties that are saved in a response file instead of displaying screens where youenter these properties. Silent mode is often used for performing installations remotely. You cancreate the response file from a template before you perform an installation, or you can createthe file during an installation for use in subsequent silent-mode installations. See “Creating aResponse File Using a Template” on page 22 and “Creating a Response File During anInstallation” on page 22. To install Data Integration Management in silent mode, run this command:InstallerFile -silent -options ResponseFilewhere InstallerFile is a platform-specific installation program (such assetupWin32Platform.exe for an installation on a Windows platform orsetupSolarisPlatform.bin for a Solaris platform) and ResponseFile is the property filecontaining the parameters required for the installation.Creating a Response File Using a Template To create a response file from a template:1 Run this command:InstallerFile -options-template ResponseFilewhere InstallerFile is a platform-specific installation program (such assetupWin32Platform.exe for an installation on a Windows platform orsetupSolarisPlatform.bin for a Solaris platform) and ResponseFile is the name that yougive to the response file (for example, response.txt).The installer produces the specified response file.2 Edit the response file to specify properties for silent installations. For example, edit response.txt tospecify that only the PowerCenter Client component is installed.Creating a Response File During an InstallationIf you run the installer using the -record option, the installer displays screens where you enterinformation. The installer records your entries in a response file that you can then use insubsequent silent-mode installations. To create a response file during a silent-mode installation, run this command:InstallerFile -options-record ResponseFilewhere InstallerFile is a platform-specific installation program (such assetupWin32Platform.exe for an installation on a Windows platform or22Installing and Uninstalling Data Integration Management
